I like AGS but I have to complain about how long it takes them to get your paperwork back. I sent in 7 and its been almost 4 wks and still havnt got them back. I called today and they said they had been processed and should be sent out in the next day or so. That's crazy if they are that busy to not be able to get them done sooner why dont they hire more help. But their prices are nice.

Love ADGA for their online registration, I paid for my little does papers on a Sunday online and they where in my mailbox on Wed. So three days that is awesome. I dont think their prices are that bad just wish you didnt have to pay so much for bucks once they are over two years. I got a buck from someone that had never registered him and It cost me $29 plus $4 for transfer so alot. But I love them and like the online registration wish AGS would get theres going.

Yes, you automatically get the pedigree that comes on the registration papers. Bucks come with the extended pedigree, you have to order that for does.
Thankfully transfers are not expensive.

Yes, that is understandable though as it is supposed to deter people from procrastinating on their registrations and causing extra work for ADGA when they *finally* send the applications in. Doesn't always work though.....

If you are trying to save money on multiple registrations, don't send them in till after September 1st. They drop the fees a dollar per goat after rush season.
I don't show, so no rush for my paperwork. Since I don't need it right away, I wait and send all mine in in the fall.

I agree people should not procrastinate when sending their papers in. I dont like mine to be undone so I get mine done in a reasonable time. But not everyone is like me. I hate talking to people about buying a goat from them and then they say o by the way you will have to waite for their papers cause I never got their dad transferred into my name. I just walk away.

You should have gotten an extended pedigree with your bucks papers if YOU sent the *application* in to ADGA. Were you the one doing the actual registering, or were you buying an already registered animal and just transferring him into your name??
The extended pedigree only comes with the actual initial registration. After that, it is up to the owner to send the extended pedigree with the papers of the buck as they are sold.

You don't get an extended pedigree when you transfer off of his original paperwork, only when he is originally registered, unless you ask and pay for another one. If you actually registered the buck for the first time and didn't get an extended pedigree than call ADGA.

For your money ADGA is hands down better than any other goat registry. It took them forever to catch up to AKC's customer service. But they are there now. Vicki

Why don't does come with extended pedigrees? And why do it since you can go online and see it there?

A lot of people don't have internet.....especially long-time older breeders.

Also the extended pedigree has all of the LA scores, DHI records and other acheivements right there at your finger tips for 3 generations back. To look all of that up with ADGA Genetics (and then going into the Members Only section for the *Bs and +Bs and the like) would be quite time consuming. The extended pedigree has everything on it. For instance one of my past buck's extended pedigrees shows which of his lineage are DNA tested with a record with ADGA.

When you consider just how many does are registered compared to the bucks, it would get expensive. For a lot of people, that one buck is easily half of their entire herd as far as genetics. So having that extended pedigree in hand helps to make breeding decisions and can give you so much more information. Since so few bucks are registered by breeders, the added cost isn't that big a deal.

Having said all of that, I have not recorded all of my recordable does. I do a bit at a time, depending on who I want papers on. Since my first generation has to be done the slow way and paying the full amount, it gets put off. All of the 75% and up are easily done online for way less monetarily. Each of the Purebred Nubian bucks I have used for breeding have been registered and transferred though.
You want to talk about expensive goat registrations? Take a look at the Boer associations and their costs! I have purchased registered Fullblood Boer bucks the past two years but have yet to send any paperwork anywhere. $50 to join, then the cost of registration and transfer!? Not to mention the wait time. They do not come close to offering the services that ADGA offers online for free. They charge additional fees in the case of one registry. Since no one has cared about paperwork yet, I haven't seen the need. I may transfer any Fullblood Boer bucks I purchase if they are worthy of resale into a registered herd. So far, that hasn't been the case.
