please don't be mad at your vet. work on your relation ship with him, tell him what you heard from others and discuss it with him. we (people from different forums) will not be correct in every situation either.
who knows what the reason was for him to give you oxytocin?
if you tell him what you learned from doing research, he might see you in a different light and will be willing to learn
this could be a great chance.

Midnight goat check: done. All is well.

My hubby doesn't want me to sleep out there since the oxytocin isn't going to do anything since it has been so long. (What I haven't mentioned is that I was diagnosed with severe bronchitis and conjuctivitis and poison ivy today.) Or, rather, yesterday since it is past midnight. I will check again soon. I am sure some of you all are doing the same thing from what I have been reading.

Now I don't feel so bad thinking I had obsessive compulsive disorder!

Oh, and I am not mad at my vet. He has done far too much for us over the years and helped us out in too many ways for me to be mad. Even if something terrible had happened, I would not have held it against him. I would not necessarily seek his advice regarding my goats ever again, but I would still use him for my other animals. He is a kind, gentle, generous man with a quiet manner that exudes love and compassion towards the animals he treats. I just thought he knew everything and had him on a pedestal- like a saint over our animals in our county. It was jarring to realize he may not have the answers to goaty- stuff.

Oh, how scary! I'm glad nothing bad happened.

I also noticed that I live really close to you! We're maybe 30ish minutes from Ripley. I wish I had some Lute, I would gladly bring you some, but I've never had a need for it so I don't have any on hand. But if you ever need anything I DO have, I'd be glad to help!

I wish I knew a good "goat-vet" to recommend to you. Thankfully I haven't had to use a vet for my goats yet. -knocks on wood-

I hope you have some spunky kids bopping around soon!

Hi to you, Wonderland! And thanks so much for the offer! I just checked out your site, and it turns out we have a bit in common besides goats- I hope we can meet sometime. Send a PM to let me know if you would be interested- AFTER I know my Rosie has delievered safely. Unless you want to come all the way here from where you live- then you can come anytime. I am not planning any trips away from this barn on my weekend off, as I am sure you understand.

My last barn check was fine. All is well. I can't sleep, so I am just hanging around listening to everyone else snore, and going out to the barn frequently.

Oooohh- VERY EXCITED!!! No goo, but her bag is definitely tighter with visible "waxy" plugs at tips of her teats- first I have seen that! And I can't feel the ligaments! YAY!!! WHOOHOOO!!! I am posting this really quick and getting my stuff to go put her in the kidding pen where we hung the hammock- it's huge. So I will be actually in the stall with her. (Not that we've done this, but we designed it big enough for a horse to foal in or an injured animal that needs confinement to live comfortably.) I am going to bring Mama Goat in with us, too, since they are mother and daughter and have never been separated. Those are the only two goats I own.

I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I am bringing the camera, too, of course! (No active contractions while I was out there, but it should be soon, right?)

Probably won't post again for awhile- it is 4:00am here, and I haven't slept yet- too jacked up on the sinus cocktail the doc shot me with for my bronchitis and too excited about Rosie!!!
