It's nearly 50-50. I think that just goes to show that BOTH options should be available. Lots of people simply don't have access to fresh milk. Of course, that could change with new legislation. But still, there are going to be folks that live in a big city that are simply weary of how long the raw milk has been on a truck, how it was stored, etc. It's easier for them to have a pasteurized product and not have to worry about things in their mind. So let them have it. Just also let the people have raw milk who are comfortable with their local producer, or their local distribution center and know they are getting a quality product. I just don't even see what the debate is about letting folks sell it as long as it's labeled properly - like every other foodstuff we have available!

I think if people have the option to eat a Hostess twinkie, we should also have the option to drink raw milk. We aren't all so stupid the gov has to step in to help us choose what's for dinner!
EDIT: Percentage of 'NO's has gone down from 57% to 53%!

It's sad that so many people have been indoctrinated into the belief that, unless fresh food is processed, chemicalized, analyzed, and otherwise adulterated, it's not fit to eat. It's so "Brave New World."
Makes you wonder how the human race has survived so long.
Hm. THought just occurred to me. Women who nurse their babies are feeding them RAW MILK, aren't they?

Better get back to voting. The "no's" are out in the lead again.

I will admit...when I first was introduced to raw milk when I bought a holstein cow. I was leary about drinking her milk. Everyone around here, (and these are Mexican people who you would think would relish drinking fresh milk instead of paying $40 bucks for a gallon of water milk at the store!!!) they told me that I needed to boil the milk first....ya right!!! I LOVED it...it actually tasted gross to me when I heated it to patuerized heat levels!
Well, when I traded in cow for goats in my paddock I kinda had the same reaction all over again...should I drink it or should I not wihtout pasteurizing?? I got on here and asked questions about it. I really think that it is because we are PROGRAMMED to think that it isn't good. Just like we are programmed to believe that a big mac is a REAL hamburger! HAHAHAH!!! Comercialization. The big wigs wouldn't sell as much if everyone knew the TRUTH. I should have been drinking raw milk for years now if I would have only known...... I voted yes.

Sadly, that has also gone out of "fashion".

Yes Yes Yes! My kids & my children & I all drink raw as long as we have goats giving milk. When no one is producing I almost give up milk completely - except for cooking.

If you read the comments in the "are debating" link, you can see most of those people want raw milk, too, or just want the gov out of their face.

I absolutely agree with both sentiments. Actually if we could accomplish the second the first would follow naturally!

Yes I did! For three children.
Most stupid question ever put to me as a why I shouldn't breast feed argument; "Can't babies get aids form nursing?" Yes, but I don't have aids, so thats not much of a concern for me. I was very careful who else nursed my babes though!!(Just kidding of course.)

I nursed both of mine, too. My mother had a problem with it. Too bad, I would not give my children less than the best I could give them b/c some people have a problem with natural body functions.
But as for other people nursing babies, many cultures do "share" nursing. A friend of mine and her sister had babies about the same age, and they'd feed each other's child often. I thought that was way cool!

I drink my goats raw milk but I would have to know and trust someone before I would take milk off their farm. I proably wouldn't buy it raw from just anybody at the farmers market.

Yes for me! My family and I have been buying raw milk for about a year now, and there's no way I'd go back. I refuse to drink pasteurized milk.

It's up to about 51% voting yes now!
My does are dry right now and we aren't using much milk -- I have to buy some for the little buck kid I'm bottle feeding, and to keep my kefir grains going.

just voted yes, the yes's are now leading 51% to 49%. I totally believe that no matter what everyone thinks, I think that it should be left up to the consumers as to what they want to buy, not the governments!!! I totally agree with the raw movement!!! people are tired of "fake" food!!!

Didn't vote, don't have a goat. (We will in August!, nervous as heck).
I too am more afraid of commercial greens, but might probably have voted no only because DP was on chemo for 18 months!!! and has a depressed immune system. I'm wondering then - is this baseless? Would the bennies of raw milk (handled very carefully) outweigh the pasteurizing, or is ti best to play it safe... for a while.
