Some of us are capable of having just a few goats. It's very hard, but doable. I started with pregnant Gretta and she had twins and I stopped there. Almost 3 years later I still have my 3 goats I love the babies, I want the babies, I yearn and squeel at the baby pictures here on the forum. BUT...I only have so much time and every time I am tempted I just remind myself that adding more will take attention away from the critters I already have. Plus I feel like I'm up to my eyeballs in poop already. I have 2 horses (another hard to say no to when you see so many nice ones going so cheap) 3 dogs, 8 cats, 13 chickens and my 3 goats. When hubby became unemployed and had serious health issues this past year and I had to do everything myself it proved to me that any more critters would put me over the edge.

Hey, each and every goat is a delight. Go ahead, make the leap. You will not forget I mean regret it. Really, they are as good or better than a dog. DO it... If you want to just try a couple, I've got some minimanchas who'd love to visit your house and try your buffet. One is even in the family way.

You are all too funny. Let's see if I can find a quote from "Life in the Goat Lane" ..something having to do with capacity. Cant find it.
It all has to do with the fact that whatever you are doing you wind up having a certain amount of critters. You sell X amount but X amount of something shows up.
You go out to do the math & voila...somehow you are back where you started from.

How far West are you going Paul? Come anywhere close to me and you might have extra passengers when you leave, lol

Shygal how could you resist such a face? ( see pic below) You can't that is why you always have more than planned. They have such cuteness and personality you cannot resist. Thanks to my bucklings escape had 52 this year I am down to 39 and have 14 (more or less) for sale. After a while you can part with some, especially if they annoy you, you already have that color, or they are male

Too cute!... and not for sale lol

You post pictures like that, Thai, and then talk about how i left your place with THREE goats, rather than the ONE I came for?

~laughs~ He looks like Imp, but with blue eyes.

Note to self.

Do NOT let hubby see this thread.

It'll scare him.

I'm getting my first two goats in exactly two weeks.... ...and please note the use of "first two"... since I already KNOW we're destined for more!

Ok you guys are making me laugh!! My husband had to come in and see what I was laughing about! so i read a few of the posts, and he said "see! you are not going to become the goat lady" LOL. I went to get one, but heard I needed to get two, so since I wasnt sure when I went to the next farm that I would get any we took two pygmies, went to the next farm and took 4 1/2 pygmy 1/2 nigies (thanks to hubby being with me)LOL a month and a half later I convinced him to get a nubian, and he said that is it, 7 is your limit.....so if some are born, you will have to get rid of the existing ones or new new ones. (shhhh...he wont be able to!) I can see me already starting my goat farm, dreaming of milk cheese soap yogurt ice cream, and maybe maybe meat. but we shall see
