I'm pretty sure it was Happy's brother. The spots match. The only other option is a registered Alpine with no spots.

Yep! I was thinking "Happy's brother", as well. The color patterning just shouts it out.

Really?? I seem to remember you coming here for one buckling and you leaving with 3 goats, lol maybe that is goat person moderation
Nehi the point of going mini is to have two to three times the number you would have if you were large dairy, so you are actually under the number you should be You just have to find a way to justify it and make it sound good and researched.

~laughs~ That is ONLY because you are an enabler. On another forum that I am a member of, there is a thread on never being able to come home with only ONE goat, that you end up picking up two or three.
One lady said she combats that, and holds off enablers, by ONLY bringing enough cash for the goat she is buying and leaving all credit cards and checkbooks at home....
I told her that for the TRUE, EXPERIENCE enabler, such measures are not even obstacles.
So.....do you happen to have a nubian or mini-nubian in milk that you want to cut down your herd with?

You REALLY didn't have to give me that idea, Thaiblue. Although, I'd probably have thought of it myself, given time. *sigh*

Poor Nick! When we went to pick up our new pup the other day, after the owner asked us if we wanted to take two, he got a shell-shocked look on his face and asked, "Is this like the goats, where we HAVE to have more than one?"
Maybe that's why he gets nervous when I talk about going down to Columbia to see our daughter. From there, it's just a few more hours to get to Ozark Jewel's place... BWAhahahaha!

And then if you go east just a bit, you can pick up kids from me, too!
I have a really nice LaMancha/Alpine cross doeling named Kate who is looking for a home.

Hmm... I could make the rounds and go see Susie, too....
But I kinda sorta promised I'd stick to Nubians (with the exception of Beaux Ty's pet wether, Clark, who's a pygmy).
<Pony's eyes start to glaze over> Still, it might be fun to have a lovely cross like Kate...
<Pony shakes her head, snapping back to reality> ARGH! Oh, my! That was close!

Well she is not in milk but I do have that F1 mini Nubian I had to take back from those people. She is black and white, will be 2 in Nov so she is ready to breed.... to my blue eyed buck She does have funky ears due to a mean little pygmy and some frostbite. I cannot post a pic since the bottle baby chewed my laptop cord that has my pictures on it. Glad ebay had it cheap
Nehi it is simple, one 175 pound doe, takes up as much room and feed as three 60 pound does
Oooo Pony if you are close you should get here, she is cute and it is nice to have a variety.
Yes I am an enabler

I'm not doing too bad -- I've only got eight right now. Two does in milk, their four this-year's offspring (twin doelings, twin bucklings, all minis), and the reg. Ober buckling and doeling that I bought. The twin bucklings are going to be wethered and will end up in the freezer. I'm debating about what to do with the twin doelings, going back and forth on whether or not to keep them. I don't want to breed them to my Ober buck as the kids might be too big for them to deliver safely, but a neighbor has a small buck (I really need to go meet them and see whether that buck is a Pygmy or a Nigie!) and maybe I could use him....
In any case, the doelings are here for the summer, as I have two nine-year-old girls coming for the summer (granddaughter and niece) and the babies will give them something to play with. (Good excuse, right?!?)

Oh the pain of moderation. Last year, I wanted a Saanen-in-milk so that I'd have quantity of milk for cheese making... I had two LaManchas for table milk and just thought I'd try some minimanchs. hawwww. Now for Saanens I have: two does in milk, two doelings, a buckling and a herdsire. Two ND, two LaMancha, seven minimanchas and a minimancha/saanen (I don't know how THAT DARN buck nailed a minimancha doe, but the doeling from a minimancha most definately is part saanen.) Really, the genes passed in the water. really. She was out of her pen ONLY one morning. OH AND two Great Pyr. and chickens.
OH YES, imagine if I didn't watch my moderations. Oh, look-out RoseAlice. I'm trying to plan a trip out west and I want to swing by your place. Let us see if we can increase the little darlin's here by a MM buckling.

Ducky is looking for a place to live! He's the one I had in mind for you, Paul, when he was born.
When are you coming?
Or (how far is it to Memphis from where you are?)
I'll post a pic later after it cools off.

We've got a Saanan looking for a place to go! Are any of you people thinking of cutting back wanting a Saanan? LOL, see the irony? "Cutting back, want some more???"

Two does...you want milk so you breed them....
Four kids...they are so little, and they are not all that much trouble, and they are the FIRST kids born on your little farm...you can't bear to part with them.
Two of the kids are does, so at the end of the year, you breed their mommas and the doelings.
Oh MY! One of your 2nd Fresheners produced QUADS! They are so CUTE. The other produced twins. One of the first fresheners did a singleton, and the other did twins. It's been a year since you got your first two goats, and you now have 15 goats.
However, you are noticing that you'd REALLY like to go for black goats, and there is this LOVELY black buck for sale, so you go get him....he has a full sister that is a lovely splotch of black and white, so she comes home too. (Plus, her dam's udder was GORGEOUS.)
You now have 17 goats. Okay, your DH is starting to fuss about it, so you sell off the boys or eat them (except for the two wethers that were born in spring). You have had an average season, so you have 5 bucklings and 4 doelings out of this kidding. The bucklings go bye-bye.
You have 13 goats and it is fall. You breed.
Spring of year three, average, everyone just had twins...no quads, no triplets... You now own 33 goats. It is only 2 1/2 years since you bought your very first goats.

What generation is Ducky? I'm depending on a friend for my adventure, so I am at his mercy as to if and when. OHHH Mapquest says that I am 563 miles from Memphis!!!
