Her hand-made jewerly looks nice also. Is that a dog tag and bell?

My husband realized that we have 10 goats and couldn't believe it! Little does he know that all 7 does are bred and we plan on picking one really nice doeling for our herd....the other three are boys, 2 bucks and one silly trick doing wether.

Goats are like popcorn. Who do you know that has sat down with a big bowl of popcorn and then eaten just two or three pieces? Thats right, they don't, they eat it by the handful until they are stuffed. Yep, thats goats. Two or three pieces? Yeah right, we all have handfuls and sometimes an entire bowlful.

haha, i also thought, 'just a coupla milkers'. i also thought i could pick up any ol goat for $50 at the sale barn and have plenty of milk. hahahha!! i could feed them whatever i had left from the horses, too, right?! ahahah! nope, the horses eat the goats leftovers, and the goats cost me pretty pennies to buy in the first place. and i am really proud of myself that i've sold down to only 4 does, one buck. course, all the does will kid this year, but i have a plan for those kids. one doe is my DD's, and 2 are old, so i will keep a couple doelings. in the meantime, since i just wasn't sure how the old gals would milk this year, and now i am seeing they are doing VERY well, i got milk coming out my ears!!!! so much so, that i've ordered a couple pigs!! this small 'coulpa goats' plan has grooowwn!

And it's impossible to count popcorn dont cha know!
Nehimama in the world of goats, moderation is relative. Folks ask me how many are here and I can never come up with an exact number.
But we did start out with four in 06. Havent bought any since. I think we're up to 12 adults & 13 babies. DH just corrected me, its 16 adults.

I'm afraid that if Minimanchas were easy to come by, I'd be in a whole lot of trouble. I can't resist them.....

Oh, I love this thread. My children wanted a couple of kids nine years ago. My children have moved on, but the goats remain. I still have the nine year old twins. One just kidded and I sold both kids - as I have a line of people wanting doelings this year. Two more does are ready to kid. If I had time and space I would have an entire dairy.

LOL! Same thing here! Started out with 1 pregnant doe in October. I'm now up to 16 total. 4 does ( 1 of them my nubian), 1 buck, 5 bucklings (1 of them my boer) including 1 buckling that was born today!, and now 6 doelings(1 is a boer). we have 3 projects going, breeding pygmies for pets, nubian for dairy, boers breeding for meat. so much fun!

I'm doing well on the moderation thing....3 does (two mini-nubians, one ND), two bucklings, and one wether.
HOWEVER, I have to admit that I have been scanning CL for more goats...I want a grade nubian or mini-nubian that is in milk.....*sighs* I also want an unrelated ND or mini buck.
I *have* promised that I would sell the bucklings once my minis are bred....

Wow. This thread took on a life of it's own! Uh. Embarrassed to admit my moderation button is broken. I'm concentrating on the minis, have sold most of my "big girls", and somehow, I'm back up to 11does, 5 of whom are in milk. And a batch of yearlings to breed this fall - because I want to see how they freshen out!
