update.
lil buck is in with his momma (spent his first night in the barn last night)and is refusing his ba ba. Belly seems full enough. He has been in the house all this time with just a few visits with momma..and i am amazed she has accepted him is guarding him and nursing him. He has a small vet wrap bandage around his fetlock as he still has some drooping over. I know there is a correct term for that but it escapes me.anyway thanks all..all is looking good for him

Betsy H. - can you clarify your comment on Vit. B, please?

In the future, IMO you *need* to go in to check for other babies well before an hours passes, especially if there is no placenta or if you miss it. Sometimes you don't have a lot of time before the cervix closes again and a retained placenta or dead kid is way worse than any infection you can give them by going in.

Hope mom & little one are better. Fabulous job working with this boy!

GOod to hear he is stil with you. Sure didn't sound good for a while.
He's sure pretty. Sending thoughts of health your way.
Depending on the size of the goat the grey pipe insulation works ok for splinting. The kind that has a split already o the length. Just cut to length and vet wrap it on. Looks like the paper towel cardboard works too.
I can't rememver what vitamine deficiencey can do that ...probably what the others are saying. Bose is good, too.

My guys are doing WONDERFUL! Thanks for asking. So spoiled they are. I weaned them over the weekend, and they are truly enjoying all the greenery around them. I will post some pics soon. I love showing off my little guys.

I am in southeastern ky. Right on the border of tn, ky and va. I am very serious about having him as a pet. I love horns. I intend on having four or five pet goats. Only have two at the time being. My daughter is begging for a black goat, idk why. He is extremely adorable!

Vitamin B complex-

B-complex is a water soluable vitamin. In ruminating animals, if you give it per os (by mouth), the rumen breaks down the vit. B so almost none of it is metabolized, but virtue of the pH, rumen bugs, etc.

Since a kid that is not ruminating yet has none of that, the fluids go into a different stomach until the rumen starts working, which once it wakes up happens pretty quickly.

Injecting it insures that it gets metabolized properly.

Is this what you mean?

Hmm, yes, that's what I meant. I had never heard that before about the Vit. B complex. I used to give it subQ but now give it orally. Of course many times I am using it to stimulate appetite, so oral is what works (within minutes). Will need to read up on this more. Thanks!

Lamoncha Lover, You deserve big hugs & praise. You did a wonderful job & so glad that he is with momma & doing so well. Sounds like he's going to be just fine. He is awfully dorable.
If you were closer I'd take him but he'll surely be loved at Pammielu's if you guys can get together.

Jyllie63, I remember your little Petrie & it still brings tears to my eyes thinking about him too. He was adorable & I'm sure still missed!

When I get a pet, they are with me for life. Pm me, if you want to ask anything! Thanks for even considereing me!
