I probably wouldn't reccomend a doe that is soon to kid, especially if you are new to livestock in general. Give yourself time to get to know each other before you have the double responsibility of twice a day milking *and* kid care.
Its really hard to say without seeing the goats themselves. Have you asked anyone about CAE status on these does?? For those prices, I would want them tested CAE negative and of course CL is a concern.
If they are milkable, friendly, *healthy*(tested CAE negative, with NO CL in the herd), then those prices are not that high. Are these all grade does or do they have papers?
Your best option might be to get a goat from Emily when she has someLOL

I'd choose option 3. I may be new to this as well, but from what I have read, and owned.....I like the Alpines and Nubians best when choosing milking does. From what I heard, toggenburgs are considered only moderate milkers....and people say their milk isnt very tasty when compared to other breeds. so yeah....if it was me, (out of only those options) I would get one of the alpine does with a buck kid at her side. Oh, and good luck with whatever your choice will be

None of the options test for CAE or CL and none are registered. I'm not impressed.

I'm really intrigued by kinder goats and I'd like to start a herd, so I'm going to look for a registered nubian doe. I found a few places that have them and test for CAE and CL. They're further away, but if I'm going to invest time and money into these animals, I may as well go through a little more trouble now for some insurance.

Sounds like a good idea. Getting healthy tested stock to begin with will save you lots of trouble. Wish I had had someone tell me that when I started out..............
