I am so sorry for you loss. It was not your fault and do not blame yourself for leaving. It happens very fast sometimes. She is in Greener pastures and running free now.

As for the bloat. I was at a huge clinic in Greeley Co in April. They have had more goats bloating and dieing for no explained reason. The vets putting on a clinic told everyone to buy what is called a Goat Bloat Block. It is about the only thing that is really helping. I know of 32 goats in my area, (larger area). and three Llama's and 2 Alpaca's all for no reason. What the vets said it was is the weather here is so unusual that it is what is causing the problem.

Ernie, The Baking soda does work. I had a buck bust into my grain bin while I was away at County Fair. If it wasn't for the baking soda balls that I shoved into his mouth I know I would of lost him. After I gave his some and rubbed his tummy, he would belch, also I have baking soda out for all my goats and I had one stall I did not put baking soda in and that was the doe I almost lost, once I took her to the vet and he said to KEEP IT OUT, and she went right over to the other stall and ate more.
