LOL Mine is a tv baby monitor and I turn the sound off. I can see but not hear!
I love it for watching for baby goats also.
How is your doe feeling?

Daphne is the doe that has been sick, but today she was spunky, all tail wags, bright eyes and what an appetite. Not to mention she was excited because my son had some raisinets and she wanted them badly. Her rear is softeneing nicely so I am hoping for babies in 7-10 days from her. I just stay on top of her medication and feed and hope that when kidding comes along all things go well.

One of the little silly newspapers around here has offered to do a little story on her when she kids. If they do the story I hope they have a website so that you can all read it. Not to mention it is a funny little free paper. I can hardly wait for her to kid, but want to get the La Mancha doe, Carla first so I can milk some colostrum from her to have for all the babies and for emergency...I have my fingers crossed for tomorrow after the mucus today.

Well, I will say this..

At 6am, my Alpine girl had nothing going on. NOTHING. She had been a foolish brat all night- stole my roll of paper towels and ripped into them, tried to steal my flashlight.. just a total goof.

At 6, she was settled in to sleep.

At 9:30, I went up to find a new baby, nearly dry and standing. Placenta was all delivered, too.

LOL! I had been in the Barn since 11:30 that night!! She waited until I was gone for 2 1/2 hrs to do the entire thing solo. Bratty goats!!

Hope yours hurries up for you!!

How was she when you shaved her udder? I've been dying to do it to my girl, but she's so flighty I was afraid she'd miscarry. I told her tonight she's in for it this week though.. hoof trim, MWAHAHA! Maybe even a bit of a shave...

Meghan,
Carla didn't mind the shave but since we have shown her since she was a kid she is pretty used to the clippers. I shave everyone's hiney and udder because they are so hairy and it is easier to clean them up after they kid.

Day 157......I have my fingers crossed but we have another!!! storm moving in today. Our winter is about a month and 1/2 late this year.

I am on day 153 here... or 148 depending on which date she actually took (she stood twice) The trouble is, There is a woman buying her who is just waiting til she kids because i wouldn't sell prior to kidding. She needs to hurry it up! shes costing me money having to feed her when I could have had her gone two weeks ago lol

YEP, I had twins today, lucky she had them before the storm hit. I let her have them outside because it was beautiful, she had them and was cleaning them up right as it was starting to get cooler. I gathered them up took them and her to the newly bedded stall for her and her new babies.

I had a single born last week (Thursday), in a major blizzard. I have only one doe left and this Saturday we are going to get another MAJOR storm with LOTS of snow an that lovely darn wind, so I would guess that is when she will have hers.

DH can always sleep on the sofa - if the barn noise piped into the bedroom keeps him awake!!

Not to add pressure to the mother-to-be, we WE ARE WAITING for pictures

Ugh...day 158. I think maybe I have my dates off or can they go into the 160s? I watched Yoda and Carla breed and didn't witness any after that breeding. Her udder is tight and shiny, but nothing. Just crazy, silly Carla who thank goodness makes me smile when I go to the barn cuz she is just so funny.

*Thinking I would have babies by now I even let my 5 year-old son go on his first field trip to Denver today....I am so nervous about letting the little guy go but I guess you have to cut the apron strings sometime, but I am not ready.

I am sick of the wind, not necessarily the snow but the wind is terrible. I am thinking she will decide to kid on Saturday to, during the worst part of the storm. The bad part is that all the goats that are going to kid will probably decide to kid then too. I have Daphne, the little one in the barn who has been sick, Carla, Velma, and then Gloria. The first three could really kid at any time, Gloria is not due until May I am thinking, if at all, I think she may be precocious.

When I was counting out the days for my mare I skipped a whole week. So about 3 weeks ago I found out I had 4 not 3 weeks left.
Now I have 3 days left and she is showing to be so close.
The wait is horrible.
And because mare tend to foal at night I am up all night long watching the tv monitor.
If it wasnt for day naps I wouldnt have made it this far.

Hey. I notice with my doe before she kidded. That her back legs is like soo STRAIGHT! Their legs looks different than dry open does or pregnant does before kidding.. And it looks weird and i knew she will kidd this morning and she did..

I told you that i had a doe kid yesterday with twins. I got her in the barn all snug and then that storm came. I checked the last one o kid. NOPE not close. Bag not full, no discharge. OK I have a Saturday kidding I am sure. Well when my daughter got home and went to see the new babies she said that the other doe that I had just checked and was not where near close, well she kidded and now I ma finally totally done.

I hope your does are safe from the storm that is coming. They say we are going to get hit like the storm of 2003. We had no power for 7 days, and we had our 2nd baby ever in that blizzard, so we named him Blizzard.

I think sometimes not having a clue when the due date is better then having the date and pulling your hair out and counting the days. I had NO idea these girls were bred until about two months ago.

I have officially decided that Carla must have been bred the next heat cycle after the breeding I witnessed. Ugh! There is no way that we could be going on day 159 tomorrow!

Lori,

I sure hope it does not snow like 2003. Storms like that are just too hard on the animals, not to mention on the old checking account because my husband drives a semi for a living and then he is not working. My fingers are now crossed that Carla waits a bit longer along with all her friends at the barn.

No babies yet.....Daphne has officially gotten milk in her teats! So I am thinking soon for her and Carla looks the same! She had some mucus this morning but really think she is just prepping.
