After you read here a while, you will discover that folks will tell you more than what you ask. Most of the time, that's a good thing.
It would help if you knelt down and took a picture straight in from the side, with the camera at the same height as the goat. It's very possible that the angle and shadows make things appear slightly different to us than what you see.
Blessings on you for your rescue of this goat. She may not have an identifiable breed at all, and she may be a Heinz 57 variety. She's lucky you came along.

She just looks like what's called a "Spanish" goat.
I didn't think by your post that you treated her badly. As a matter of fact, I assumed by your question you just got her and she was skinny due to the previous owners. (or in the case it is "lack of owners")

The goats look like mixed Swiss (dairy) breed cross. They could very well have Alpine and Togg in them. The kid resembles some of my friend's Alpines. I'm glad you care enough to take them in and have the vet help you care for them. That had to be hard on the doe to have been abandoned while she was pregnant.

Since I don't know much about different breeds I probably should not have even posted a response because your original question is quite direct...but I'm trying to learn so I look at all the posts Thank you rescuing this mama and baby...they look so sweet and deserve a good home and it sounds like they sure found one! I will be more careful at sticking to the original questions and concerns.

4h farmer, just ignore some of the people that are to straight forward and kinda rude in my eyes. You can be straight forward without being rude and still get a point across, I thought. I am fairly new here and it does stink when someone tells you that your goat looks emaciated because she is not close to emaciated. I am sure you are well on the way to getting her weight back up and that she is not starving. When I got my goats they were really big maybe a little bit on the heavy side. They came from Missouri to Wisconsin and I kept their feed the same but they still lost weight and being pregnant I am having a hard time getting weight on them.
As far as the breed the baby looks like she does have oberhasli in her. I am not to familiar so can't help you out there but good luck!

4H Farmer, I agree with you that some people on here are very rude when a question is asked. I do not think the goat looks all that bad for being a found goat that someone left behind, which you did explain.
Yes you can worm her while she is nursing and the kid looks big enough that if it needs it worm it also. Introduce food slowly.
I also agree with the poster that said her head looks on the large size and favors SaanenX, Please keep us updated on her progress. One of my best goats is a found wether.
Thank you for taking the goat in and being concerned enough to ask questions.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience for doing a good thing. At least once a week there's a post here from someone who has killed a goat because they're too lazy/stupid/cheap to care for it properly. Obviously, you're not one of those.

I am sorry some are very rude on here. I have learned to ignore them. I think she looks like a mix of Toggenburg and Alpine. Thank you for helping her! Hope they do really well for you! I had a skinny pregnant goat to that I bought. It does take awhile for them to put on weight. I don't think she looks that bad at all. You can't see her ribs or spine at all. With mine you could see her spine. I sort of see her as my rescue goat.

I've had similar experiences with BOTH of my goats. My first girl was a yearling, and rather leggy when I got her.. after a feedup I have to watch her because she's a little *ahem* plump. When I first posted up her pics though, a proud newbie, on another mb I got all sorts of criticism about her.
My other girl, an elderly goat, came to me in HORRIBLE condition. There's no excuse for the people who had her- they said she came to them after being abandoned and had been there long enough to kid (and the baby was now 2 months old). She was missing big patches of hair, and looked awful. After I brushed her out, she was obviously way underweight, too. It was really sad, to be honest. She's SUCH a sweet girl, and I can tell she was somebody's baby at one point.. before she went through the auctions, and got left in a field. Some good hay and grain (she's not an easy keeper despite her small size), and she's filled in nicely. After some intensive hoof trimming, and delousing and deworming, she's much happier, too.
Anyway, I bet that momma will be beautiful with a little TLC. Adorable baby!! Those goats are so lucky to have you!!!

She does not look bad at all considering all shes been thru.
Starter
1cc per 20 lbs ivermectin cattle injectable given orally . Then agin in 10 days and again in another 10 days .
Take her temp daily . After saying about the after birth hanging there could be a low grade infection just starting . Did the Vet do an internal to make sure there were no more babies and she cleaned out well ?
She needs a good loose dairy mineral 24/7
All the hay she wants . Up her grain slowly . A good dairy pellet not sweet feed will be the easiest for you . You can add some beet pulp to get weight on her faster and some corn oil {maybe 1/8 of a cup to start}
fresh water 24/7
Keep an eye out for mastitis also.

Also, yeah people can be rude, but its just like in "real" life, you just go on about your business and ignore them the majority of the people on here are really nice and are just looking to help. Dont worry, its not that they are singling you out we all have been "snaped" at just last week or so i asked a question cause i didnt understand what was being said and someone was rather rude. I did reply because i was angry but the thing i should have done was ignore them sorry for my long preachy post

I worm her to day... as for the cleaning out the vet did that and the doe did have i am guessing along with the vet she would be almost 3 weeks old she eats hay and eats grain and drinks water and plays around with the other kids and lambs..the doe milks good we are not drinking it right now she is over the blood in the milk and she doesn't seem to show any signs of fever or mastits and as for infection she had been getting treated for it cause she did have a low grade fever in the begaining you would never know now that this doe had something wrong with her just the fear she shows at times.. she is getting daily goat feed with beet pulp and she also can get mineral at free choice along with hay..so we are moving right along.. i have two barns and different areas where everyone eats and grazies ones for the goats and another for my sheep so everyone gets what they should be getting and not getting anything they can't have and as people say i have a wing on one arce of land where i place my sick ones i feel i ahve a great set up now if i can only find a place where i can hide and relax at times it would be great i mean come on i even have a building for my daughters rabbits when is it time to relax?????????? i guess when i close my eyes right giggles ...

Hey, I'm not blaming you. I understand. I've rescued goats too. What I am saying though, is that she definitely needs some TLC because she looks bad. And it is better to hear that here than from someone else.
I've seen some truly horrific things both in person and on this forum. There was the lady whose (neighbor? father in law? don't remember) didn't give a tethered goat- which had given birth and was nursing a kid!- any water at all. He said it could get enough water from the dew on the grass. Have seen lots of folks who expect a goat to give a gallon a day with grass pasture only and no hay or grain, or worse, to do that on lawn clippings.
And then there are people like my sister. She came to visit me, saw my indian runner ducks, and accused me of animal abuse because of their lean body shape. I pointed out the other breeds, which were perfectly plump, and told her about the breed difference. She didn't believe me until I pulled out a poultry catalog and showed her that runners are always thin like that.
I'm glad your goat is in a better place now.

So thank you for posting but as for the breed i dont need anyones help i will find out on my own .. sorry for asking .. I shouldn't have to write a book to ask a question thats not fair..

Don't be upset. Some things don't always come out as it's suppose to.
I think it was a great rescue story and she and her kid are so lucky they found you to help them. You're awesome! Keep pics coming! We want updates. And do they have names yet?
My own opinion......Alpine x Toggenburg. Yup.
