Well the vet would only give me one shot of the predef. I got some calcium, they offered me the injectable and told me it had to be done into the body cavity, not subQ (wish I could have logged in here to check when she told me that!) I took the paste instead. I think tomorrow morning, early, I will go get the injectable, and I bet I can talk them out of more predef. It is just like banamine, according to a link that birdiegirl sent me. Now that I know I can do the calcium injectable subQ, I will get it.

My girl was not looking so hot, and I was about to take up Donna on getting some more stuff for her, and then my DH got home, went and cut some sassafras leaves that had just come out, and some ellum, and she perked up instantly at those! Ate them all down, was just sorta picking at the hay before that.
Then she got a good drink, so I am encouraged. She still cannot stand, and that worries me.

Now earlier this afternoon my 10 yr old DD came running in and told me she thought Julie passed the placenta, she said it was slimy and bloody ( sounds right, from a 10 yr old perspective ) But when I got there, I saw nothing, just some semi-runny goat pellets. I am thinking now that maybe she passed the placenta and ate it? Does that sound right??

She was grinding her teeth earlier this afternoon, but does not seem to be doing that now, so she must not be in pain now.

Thank you all for your help. It has been a long day, and I am so tired, but I know I won't sleep well, I will be out checking on Julie and my other girl, Troubles, that is looking about to pop. I went ahead and put Troubles into a stall, with hay and water. That way I can just go check on both of them during the night. Glad some of the cold has moved out. It will make things easier tonight on all of us.

Well, my girl made it through the night. We got her some freshly budded out trees and green stuff, she much preferred that over any hay I offered. She is not real interested in water, not even the electrolyte stuff. It seems she is getting a little dehydrated. Calling the vet to try and get some ringers, if they won't then I will travel to visit birdiegirl.

talked with the vet, they are getting me some fluid for subQ and CMPK!
Maybe this will be the turning point for Julie. I sure hope so.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you & Julie. Thank goodness Birdiegirl isn't too far & wants to help. Always nice to have someone else there with you through something like this or at least you can call if you need to.
I hope Julie was just completely wore out from the whole birthing experience.
If your dausghter thought she seen the afterbirth I bet Julie did eat it since that's what they usually do.

Have you tried putting a little Apple cider vinegar in some lukewarm water for her? All my goats also Love Applecider vinegar water. I give it to them year around along with regular water. They always go for the ACV water first.

Well, got some electrolyte solution from the vet, along with a host of other medicines! She slurped about 1/2 a gal of water down, it took a little convincing, but once she tasted it she drank it real quick.
She has been standing a couple of times with help, the doc feels sure it is just a temp thing with the back legs from pressure of the birth.
She has been fiesty when getting the shots a couple of times..
I am hopeful!

I am hoping too that your vet is right. She did have an awful hard time & you said when you pulled those kids out that she was listless so she is probly just completely wore out. I would think as long as you can get her eating & drinking & keep her rumen working she'll get stronger in a day or 2 after some rest & all the med.'s.
I'm hopeful for you both too.
