But you did ask the question I wondered. If I were to breed her next year to the Nigerian Dwarf Buck, would the babies be smaller or would they be too large for her to carry? If she is just stunted, would her body try having full sized kids as she would have had , had she grown to full size or would the kids match the size of the moms current size? My ND is only a tad bit bigger than her so it would be her genetics adding in size that would be of issue

Just a suggestion, i have had goats but no expert, you may want to keep her separate from the rest until you are comfortable with the fact she doesnt have anything the others can get.

stunted kids are normal with quads, and sometimes triplets. Especially if nutrition isn't the best. One kid always seems jypped of good nutrition and is teeny. I have one myself, but she's a mini kid and pet only now. She did breed once and had normal kids and birthed easily, but I KNEW she was healthy and did reach breeding size for minis.

If your doe never reaches breeding size, don't try to breed her. Even now I'd put her on the high quality grain you feed to growing kids, high quality alfalfa hay. Wait till she's at least two to first breed, if she ever gets to the right size.

Consider taking her back and getting your money back, though. She is just taking up room that you could be filling with a quality nubian. To top it off she never may be breeding or milking quality. Paying 125 for an unpapered, possibly non breeding quality doe (essentially a pet) is rather a waste of $$.

If your new goat is out of two full size Nubians, there was something wrong with the management of the seller. She either had cocci, worms or was not fed properly as a baby. This doe should be transitioned to a good diet consisting of alfalfa hay and a high protein grain such as goat developer pellets or a mix of dry COB with BOSS and calf manna. Have a fecal done to determine if you're dealing with cocci or worms. She reminds me of my doe Evette, when she was about that age. Evette was stunted as a kid after getting a wood chip stuck in her esophagus. Her breeder also did not give as much milk or grain as I do. I acquired her as a two year old first freshener. She had preemies before I bought her. She was two, but smaller than some of my yearlings. With change in management, she is now almost four years old and has grown almost as big as my other goats of the same age. She also looks like she'll be having triplets or quads next weekend.
With your doe, I would not attempt to breed her now. Get some good food into her and see how she looks in the fall. If you can get her to grow, you should be able to breed her to your Nigerian buck, or maybe even a Nubian buck then. If there is some way you can get a goat from Montana, I would be willing to sell you a registered doeling - not stunted for $150.

runt

Please go to fias co farms website and read about candace the tiny. Candac eis now on my farm as is her yearling daughter. candace is still tiny but she produces normal sized babies. I have had NO health issues with her at all.
I don't think just because they are small they should automatically be considered garbage. Some lines mature slower, some times I think you just get a runt.
i just bought 2 small doe yearlings this weekend. The look so small comapred to candaces yearling. But they are from 2 differen tlines and who is to say they won't out grow her eventually?even if they stay small..candace has shown me even small can produce.
I wouldnt throw her away at all.And i would assume just because she is small she is a helath hazzard

she really looks small. size of newborn kids is determined by genetics. to answer your question, if she is this small and you breed her, there could be problems when she get her kids.
why do you want to support a breeder with obviously not so good management? besides, i had quads and triplets, never had a stunted kid between them, maybe one that started a bit slower but after a couple of weeks, no difference. it really is all management. my goats all have a sweet temperament too and a lot of breeder have super sweet animals that are better cared off and would give you a better start.
you said, you can only afford $125 for a doe. now i'm wondering if you can afford to feed such a little one that will never give you your investment back? would be the same if you through the money out the window.
if you would just add a little bit, you might be able to get a nubian that will be healthy and productive and a source for family milk.
just food for thoughts

the genetic default you are talking about is G6S. you can have your doe tested(probably should) before breeding her.
i would also test for cae,cl and johnes just to be on the save side.
