I have had her since October; wouldn't she come in heat before now? How do I tell if this is her coming into heat? There has been no tail wagging and there hasn't been any of the other signs that I saw listed. UGH! I am such a newbie, I am not sure I like the feeling.

I had a TINY eleven month old Nigerian doe deliver sizable kids. She had a bit of an udder and a belly, but I wasn't sure ... actually planned to take her to the vet to have an x-ray done to see if there were any in there and if there were singles or multiples, because I was really worried about her ability to deliver a big single safely. (Oops breeding.)

Vet was out sick, couldn't do it.

She had big twins THAT DAY. I didn't think she was that due. In fact, I ticked her off by snatching her babies up and following one of the other (very pregnant) does around thinking they were the other doe's kids.

Never did develop much of an udder. She had enough for the kids, but barely. I tried to milk her out a few times and never got more than half a cup or so. (Normal for this line of Nigies is about 2 cups.)

On the flip side, that doe's granddam just had twins two months ago. If I didn't know better, I'd swear up and down she has about four more in there. She waddles when she walks, but it's all rumen. (Old girl, lots of pregnancies, almost all triplets, so she's a bit stretched.)

Note: I generally feel the kids moving up high, across the flanks, when the doe's at least 3 1/2 to four months along. You can usually feel the kids even they're not moving. Towards the end of the pregnancy, you can even tell if there's multiples. --- if the doe's got a big belly full, you can feel them on both flanks.

When labor's imminent, they drop, and you won't be able to feel them up high anymore.

I have no idea where that little yearling was hiding HER babies. Another dimension, maybe. *grin* I swear she looked "maybe pregnant" but "not about to blow" pregnant.

Mine are all due in about 2 weeks. No guessing if mine are preggo. Lots of grunting ,groaning, and singing to the babies going on at my house.LOL I have one who is having kids for the 3rd time. Everyother time she has had a single and you could hardly tell she was pregnant. Well I don't know how many are in there this year but she is carrying them underneath and not out to the side. Her belly is almost touching the ground. You cant see her udder for her belly.

I had plans to get a buck to breed her anyways; I guess I just have to go ahead and get the buck and see if anything happens. If she doesn't kid by the end of March then I'll breed her. An august or sept baby wouldn't be too bad.

Once they are about 3 months along you can determine pregnancy by feeling the *underside* of the belly just in front of the udder. Just sit quietly for 5-10 minutes with your hands spread and see if you feel anything moving or kicking. Repeat for a few days.

I felt a kick; I thought it might have been her flinching when I touched her, but then a few secs later I felt it again. I sure hope this means she was bred. I am so excited!!!!!

Were you feeling the kick on the right side or the left? If it was the left side you may have been feeling the rumen contractions, feels like waves. If it was on the right side, congratulations you should be seeing babies soon.

I felt it with my hand laid flat right in front of the udder; just like one of the members suggested. It felt like the kicks I used to feel when I was pregnant with my kids.

Congratulations. Now you get to do the hair pulling thing, Do you have any idea of when she MIGHT deliver? I am still waiting on mine to kid. We have had amber colored goo for the last couple days but it comes and goes. This is after the creamy colored stuff from the beginning of the month. I think I am about bald now as she is driving me nutz. I have one more doe due without an exact date due in April sometime. From now on I will hand breed and keep stringent notes. These came bred so I started out in the dark.

I am guessing end of March; that would be 150 days from when I got her. I was already bald from trying to figure out if she was pregnant or not. She is still oosing that goo from that is the clear to milky color. I hope she throws a doe since I finally found a buck that I could afford.
