Sometimes they get white muscle disease and it causes them trouble standing and will reduce the sucking reflex. A dose of bo-se usually does the trick. Also, the low temp she had earlier on could have brought on pnuemonia. Nuflor is really good for that. Unfortunately when one problem begins, it brings on a host of other problems. We had a lamb that came down with hypothermia and from there it was one thing or another. Many times, like you did the other day, I thought she would not make it through the night. (she was in the house for at least 2 months) Today, 2 years later she is about 180 lbs, pregnant for the second time and the sweetest, most gentlest sheep you'd ever have the pleasure of meeting. Just keep working with her, miracles do happen.

UPDATE:
She is ever so pitiful again this morning. Please pray for Jazz today.
I tubed her at 2:30 am and she was ok, but tubed her at 6am and pitiful. poor baby. she needs to poo.
Vet assistant said feeding her more will help, but I am nervous about so much going in and not enough coming out.

If you think she's constipated now might be the time to giver her an enema.

do you have any baby suppositories? Those worked real well when our baby was constipated. Mineral oil enemas work also. I have had to use up to 12cc's to get one to go, she weighted 4.5 lbs at the time. If she doesn't go very soon she will become impacted.

UPATE: I talked to the vet assistant this am. I gave Jazz an enema and suppository at 9am (she pooped) and tubed 4 oz. I returned from a meeting and she is just as pitiful as she was Sunday when I gave up hope. I gave her another enema and suppository 1pm. I will call vet again. It is near time to tube again, but I hear liquid sloshing and I am nervous. Poor baby. what a roller coaster nightmare.

I just thought of something that might help. Is she moving around very much? if not you might be able to move her back legs in a walking motion. Walking around seems to help to get things going a lot of the time.

Your body temp is not high enough to warm her. Can you run a load of dry towels through the dryer to warm them? then put her in the dryer among the towels. This will warm her up. IF not possible to do the other, place the baby in a garbage bag with her head sticking out. Run very warm water in the tub or sink and place the baby in a bag in the water until she warms up.

Well we all know how much you've been doing for this little baby if she doesn't make it. I think sometimes it's just not meant to be & maybe she knows & has given up. I sure hope she pulls through for all of you there but she's been struggling so much she's probly wore out.

WTG JAZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe when she gets warm she will have enough energy to poop to get the stuf out of her system. You will need to keep her warm until she can hold her temp on her own. After you get her temp up you may need to put a little coat on her.

UPDATE: Brought her home. (from work) Tubed 2 ounces 6pm, gave her enema, no poo. Gave her shot of b complex and shot of BoSe. 1/2cc each. Her tummy seems very full of liquid. She pees. grinds her teeth, cannot stand, very little struggle when I tubed her.
Her skin does not seem dehydrated, it falls right back into place when I pull it up.

What are you using for the enema? You may have to gently insert your finger into the anus to break up the poop clump. Make sure your fingernails are trimmed really short so you don't tear anything. You shouldn't have to go very far. use a lubed, gloved finger.
