Okay I just went out and checked on her again. She has discolored stuff on her udder as if she had discharge. Its not hanging out now but her bag has color. I am going to upload the pics. I THINK TODAY IS THE DAY!! groundhog babies!

Not the best picture but you can see the discoloration on the udder from her discharge

LOL!

Well she hasn't kidded yet. I am wondering if I am just losing my mind! I wish goats could talk or have a uterine machine on that measures contractions like they do to humans LOL. I keep checking the ligaments and sometimes I feel them just a little but its only when shes moving around or trying to run from me. Does that make any difference? Or is that just normal that the tense up at that time? If she truly lost her ligaments woudl I ever be able to feel them?

I swear today is the longest day of my life LOL. I have had 6 children of my own and I swear there is a simularity here! Dizzy seems to be in labor but shes not doing anything that I can say with 100% certainty is a contraction. She is acting a bit odd. She wil sometimes go back and forth on her back feet like a child who has to go potty. She will put her back feet out backwards a bit but she does't lean forward as if to stretch like I see on Fiasco farms pictures. But i think i'd consider it a stretch. But her udder is so huge that maybe shes just trying to keep her feet back because the udder is uncomfy.. Aye aye aye!

I am not finding any change in the discharge. Sometimes I think shes arching but there doesn't seem to be a pattern to it but when shes doing it, that is when her feet move backwards a bit and she will often put her head to the side and not look at us. Then after maybe 15-20 seconds she will start moving her head around and look at us. She might do that 3 times in 5 minutes and then go several minutes from doing it agian. So maybe its just normal goat behavior and its just today I am overanalizing everything.

I have had only two times before where I watched a goat kid. The first time was a disaster but i remember being able to tell when she was contracting. she was a pygmy and she laid down through the whole thing. The second one was a Pygmy and I tied her to a tree (long lead) because I didn't have a proper place for her at the time for kidding. It was a nice summers day. I remmeber looking at her and not being able to tell if she was contracting but that I was fairly certain the ligaments were gone (reminds me of how I am feeling at the moment with Dizzy) I went outside to check on her from time to time and questioning if i was sure her ligs were gone because i still didn't see contractions.. And then one time I went out there and the bag was coming out and the single bucklin was born within 15 minutes.

So now as I tell myself my own story, I am not going to let her lack of obvious contractions get me questioning anything LOL. She didn't have mucus either though the first one had a lot.. It seems every doe can be different

I just wish I had a camera out there though I suppose it is excellent exercise for me to keep going out there.

Her bag looks a tad tighter, she still has mucus discharge. Eating fine, still pasty poop. She still hasnt got that bursting bag look but it may fill quick as its her first time.
I feel like all I am doing is looking at goat butts and udders these days, lol.
Nana is also having small amounts of discharge but she has kidded several times before.

Is Dizzy still staring into space at times?

I am sure Dizzy is sick and tired of me grabbing her rear and checking ligaments and staring at her back end too LOL. Poor girl! Next thing she wil know is me grabbing her teats twice a day and milking her out! Of all the lack of privacy! lol

I am thinking of shaving Dizzy.. better late than never

LittleRedHen, Is your doe making any noises? Most of mine are always real noisy when in labor, like a human would be I guess.
I am going to guess today at 4:30 p.m. I'm guessing that for you so it will still be daylight & you'll be home to help dry off the Triplets, 1 buckling & 2 doe's will be my guess.
I bet that was her mucus plug that you show in the 2nd picture.
Do you have a place set up already for mom & the little one's since the weather is suppose to turn really cold again here?

I will be taking the little ones into the basement. They are going to be bottle babies. I have to go into the basement to tend to baby chicks so i figured kids would be fitting. Though if by chance she only has one, then s/he will be uphere by me in a dog kennel if hubby turns a blind eye to me! lol. I think it would be neat to have a goat to help me type!

At this point she is looking and acting the same as she did back at 10am. Ligaments still gone but no obvious labor. She just begged me for some grain too so she still has her appetite though she paws the hay instead of eats it

No LOL.. I stayed home! my friend cancelled on me because her baby was puking so I figured it was fate! cause the goat was "GOING" to kid today anyways LOL. And now I guess I could have set something up to go by myself.

There is a woman who has a ram lamb and a few ewe lambs for only $35. They were born last spring.. $35!!! Iceland something or others. I dont know sheep much yet! But they were a long drive and this woman would be meeting us halfway. Dh hasn't given me the goahead yet anyways LOL. Kind of have to keep him with the approving nod so that hay is purchased LOL :banana02:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

How long can the ligaments be gone before she goes into labor? Are some does just STUBBORN?? Her ligs are still gone.. no new discharge but her udder is bigger than ever.. but no labor!

WELL

I think shes contracting now. She is talking to me a lot and she has started pawing the ground the few times i thought she was contracting. But its not hard nor straining labor. But just enough i'd nearly be confident that shes contracting. Now me and my 10 yr old DD are swapping turns at watching dizzy...

What am I supposed to be looking for prior to the piont shes straining and the bag of water is coming out? How far apart are goat contractions? are they supposed to be regular? Her poo has changd today, its smooshed together more instead of seperate berries. She keeps licking her belly too. Her udder looks like its going to explode! I shaved her last night and shes just enormous

I think shes just messing with me. A friend explained that the "slit" will open if she was contracting but its the same as yesterday so i must be wrong. But she is doing a lot of pawing now and she keeps talking to her rear after she goes potty LOL
