Roseanna was actually sleeping! Moondust (due Friday) delivered twin bucks out iof Sparky this afternoon. She delivered one naturally polled and horned. They are about 75% Boer and 25% Nubian.
Kim, she's the dam to that red polled Boer doeling from last year.
I thought for srue one of the Guessing Game does was going to kid, but I was wrong.

Well, Jane Doe delivered twin does this morning. One may be spotted, but upon closer inspection, I'm thinking not. Beuatiful both of them, either way. One naturally poled to boot.

Finally! One of these three decided it was time to kid...well past all of their due dates.
Jacobea has been in a kidding pen for close to four days now and doe after doe after doe has kidded before her. Some out in the main pen because I only have so many kidding pens and she was taking one up. We'd had 6 does kid, with four of them being due after Jacobea.
Her ligaments felt completely gone yesterday and I was so pleased that she was finally going to kid.....
Well....she will kid at point. She has to. They can't stay in there forever! :
Leda kidded this morning. She had also lost her ligaments and the kids had dropped into position. So when I left the barn this morning around 2AM, I put her in a freshly bedded kidding pen with my last two spare panels. Otherwise I just knew she was going to kid in the coldest corner of the barn where the wind from outside comes in.
Dad woke me around quarter to 8 this morning. He said I got my triplets. Leda had delivered two bucks and a doe out of William. I am still kicking myself about that breeding and my impatience. Oh well. The largest and first born buck will be grafted onto Kaili, who lost both her bucklings. He'll get twelve hours on Leda to be sure he gets plenty of colostrum (though he already had a belly full when I got down there) and then I'll play the grafting game with Kaili. The other two will be left on Leda unless Jacobea delivers all girls, in which case, the other buck will be grafted onto her.
Jacobea and Elegance really should kid soon. Elegance has a history of going well past her 150 day due date and since this is Jacobea's first freshening I don't have a history pattern on her.
Pictures later.

Shoot I was off by a day for Leda, but I would not have thought she was carrying trips. She carries well.

Guessing Game - Goats
The kid standing is the doeling. Her ears will be erect. The black one is the oldest buck and the white with cream is the youngest and also a buck.

Only one person on both boards guessed triplets for Leda and nobody had the date right...lol

Well, we have a few more winners anyways.

Elegance kidded yesterday evening around 9:30PM. She delivered a long eared polled buckling and, then to my surprise, a long eared {probably} polled doeling. She has never delivered both long eared before. Always an elf eared and a long eared.
I am thrilled she has kidded. I love milking her and she produces quite a bit even with a kid on her.
Jacobea will hopefully kid this afternoon. She is now on day 157 and I am getting slightly antsy about her. The kid(s) are still moving. I even looked forward three weeks in the breeding notes to make sure I hadn't missed a date. Just rechecked and I put her in with Sparky on the 30 which would make her due the 27th. It says no activity which means he showed no interest in her. She and the other doe that was with Sparky would have been removed before I left, so it is highly doubtful that she is due the 27th. We shall see what happens. Either way, the kids are Sparky's.
Pictures of Elegance's kids will come later today. I need to get a bit of sleep before heading back down to check on Jacobea and Lil' Bunny Foo Foo.

Here are Elegance's beauties;
Guessing Game - Goats
Her polled buckling
Guessing Game - Goats
Her polled doeling

Jacobea finally delivered last night and it was not pretty. That poor doe delivered a *single* 9 pound doeling! She is just huge! Here is the doeling;
Guessing Game - Goats
Jacobea has Leda's white buck in with her and hopefully, once her milk is through his system she will take him. For now....well, she will tolerate his nursing if I am there.

So the results....
A. Jacobea kidded 1/21/09 with a single doeling.
B. Leda kidded 1/19/09 with two bucklings and a doeling
C. Elegance kidded 1/20/09 with buck and doe twins

The following people had at least one aspect of at least one delivery correct and get their choice of scent from my collection of soaps;

~mmurrey
~goatkids

The following people, unfortunately, did not get any aspect right, *but* there are no losers when I play a game. You will receive a bar of soap of the scent of my choosing just for playing the game.

Please PM or e-mail { SkyLark_RKR@yahoo.com } me with your mailing address and the scent of your choice.

I've been wondering about them, so cute! Here's hoping your future kiddings (and calvings) are a little warmer.

Fun! How can you tell they are polled at birth? I always have to wait to see if there is a hornbud coming up!

The way the hair sits, the shape of the head, and a few years of experience...lol
I am ocassionally wrong, and in the case of the doeling, I wouldn't make any bets on it. I am fairly confident she is polled but I'll know for sure in a week.
Usually I can feel the tiny bumps on their heads if they are horned, but mostly it is the hair swirl and the shape of the head.
I do love having a Registered Purebred, Polled nubian buck around. If his polled daughter delivers a polled buckling out of my Alazne that we lost, I'll be retaining it for breeding as well.

Me too. I have two polled does and 1 polled buck. I just love having babies born without horns so I don't have to put them through disbudding!

Oh, thank you! It was so much fun playing, and I can't wait to try your soap. I love goat's milk soap, but haven't made any in years, so it will be a total treat.

I can't believe the size of that last kid - has to be one of the biggest doelings I've seen. I have kids that are less than half that size (and they are not minis, either). Poor Jacobea - her bottom must be awfully sore.

We got a pair of kids this year with one long earred and one elf earred (LM x Nubian cross) - first time I'm had that happen.

Roseanna's soap is REALLY nice. I have quite a collection here!! She even gave me a soaping lesson once - it was pretty neat. I got to make some goat milk and honey soap with a loofa inside. I love it! Hmmm, I have a pic of here in her soap shop somewhere.....
