You don't need to say your sorry. Someone else may need to, but you do not.

My wish for you is many happy years of raising goats. They will delight your heart and there will be times that joy is tempered by sadness when one leaves. Oh how I wish I began my adventure with these delightful creatures when I was your age. Good luck, God Bless and Happy Holidays.

"Nipping it in the bud" is an aggressive stance for those people who are knowingly and willfully abusing information. There's no question how seriously you take your business; it's one of the reasons your advice is so valued here. However, unless your brand is nationally known (like Coca-Cola, Xerox, Kleenex) and not just in the professional goat world, the average person isn't going to know your business name. Jumping on an innocent poster is unfair and discourteous. That's different from simply being "vocal."

You have every right to defend your title and your reputation. In this case, it was an unknowing poster. No need for defense. A polite explanation and a simple request would've taken care of it. As for PM, the conversation was already on the board.
