I use areomycin crumbles and top dress their feed until they all deliver. That is what I was told to do. So far everyone is doing fine on it.

She had been getting the alfalfa pellets. I'm going to work on slowly weaning her off the alfalfa, but at this point, I'm not changing anything in her diet so I don't shock her.

I just came in from the shed [getting colostrum and trying to pamper her some]. She still has no interest in her food and still very lethargic. But she doesn't seem weak from behind and stopped shivering. Her temp is 102.3*

uuuugh. My vet should be here in about an hour or so.

Give her some calcium, 50ml over the ribs (25ml each side, under the skin.) Offer her the colostrum and watch her.
What did the kids look like? did they have hair? etc? Any thing not normal looking to you? I have seen a 3 week early kid live, in fact I had a few does kid 2 weeks early and the kids lived. Their hair is just isn't as long/full.
Next time take pictures of aborted kids, it could help alot now.

Patty.

Aureomycin comes in crumbles it is 4 grams aureomcin from MFA and it is for cattle. My instructions was to feed it to the whole herd untill they deliver to term. I was told to top dress the food with it. There is a woman in dadeville mo that goes everywhere showing boer goats and has had them for years. She told me to do this. I double checked with a woman in humansville mo and she agreed. They also told me to bury the babies and placenta, or burn it. Now my vet (not sure if this is right) said once you have the clymedia it is in the ground and there is no way to completely get rid of it. Not to say we will continue to have these problems, that most farms have it in their ground kinda like cocci. Like I said that is the vet talkin and so far most of what I get from the vets are not completely true because around here they just dont know much about boer goats.

I thought pregnant does shouldn't be given any tetracycline because it interferes with the growth of teeth and bones? eep.

Vet came. She doesn't have milk fever and actually perked up in the last couple of hours.

I dont know anything about aureomycin soluble powder as I use the crumbles. I have no idea about tetracycline it might be in the crumbles also. All I know is I met one of these woman at a 4-h show and she has been more than helpful and I trust what she tells me. THe other woman I have not met I just called and talked to her on advice from another person. Both women say they use the crumbles when they have to and have had no problems with it. You might start a new thred to see if anyone elese has used the aureomycin and what they have to say about it. The only thing about the soluble is it goes in water. How do you know how much each doe drinks and if they are getting enough with this method.
