Flour, take a few pounds of flour and use a sifter, sift it all around the fence, barn or where ever the goats come and go, you'll be able to tell horse tracks, goats, and your dogs tracks from another animals, if it hasn't rained there recently, and it's dry, the flour works well.
then you'll know what your dealing with, domestic dogs,or wild animals, and you'll know how to trap or kill them.
a little adivce about coyotes (if it is), if your lucky enough to get one killed, don't haul it off, instead, hang it over the fence and leave it there (until it starts to stink, then get rid of it) the other coyotes will not come around, they'll find another den and hunting ground somewhere else. an old coyote hunter told me that trick, and it does work, we lost several calves to coyotes last spring, we'd geta few shots in but were either too far off, or sun in our eyes (yeah they were attacking in the day alot) shooting at them kept them away for a few days or so but then they'd be right back, but DH finally killed one, and we put in on the fence, about 50 yards from the creek where their den path was, and they all moved out, haven't had any problems since then (knock on wood)
I hope you get you critter killed. keep us updated.
