Hmmm...is you aren't going to show or sell the kids as registered animals. Just looking for good family milk goats why go with the price of a registered animal ?? You can't drink the papers. If you just want a good milker...I would look further. Seems like a lot of money for a homesteader to put out if just looking for milk for the family. Good Luck !! ( but either way...get some background on any goats and see if you can actually milk the doe before you buy her, drink the milk, see any vet records, and even take another goat person with you to check it out with you. )

Long teats, imo, are good, large teats are not. I hate milking a doe with large (wide) teats. Maybe you'd better asked to milk the goat yourself before you decide.

Well I have more information.

Leo suggested a local breeder from her post and it is a small world because it is the same breeder that I am talking about!

She just sent me the pedigrees which are as follows:

1. Dry-Creek-Hollow Hannah, N1412280 (out of Star bucks on both maternal and paternal sides)
2. Dry-Creek Hollow Caramel Candy, N1424216 (AI out of an outstanding Sire, Kastdemur's Crown Sinsation)
3. Jordan Valley JVWS Claire, N1390647 (out of Foxwood and Lynnhaven stock)
4. black and white doeling out of Claire and a Dry-Creek-Hollow Pot O'Gold (young buck who is eligible for the ADGA Sire Development program - AI son of Copperhill W. F. Papa Bear-
5. dark brown doeling out of Hannah and Pot O'Gold

Do these pedigrees tell you anything? #1 and #3(FF I think) are in milk - nursing #4 and #5. #2 did not take so she is dry.

I have found some other goats but with gas prices it would cost me $200 to get a $150 goat! What do you think - should I bite the bullet?
