How I always heard (and have seen it done, it is no big trauma) Is to grab the goat's ear and then grab it's tail and pull them towards each other. Not to yank or twist, but now the more the goat fights you, the tighter a circle it pulls itself into. They will get dizzy and fall down. Then you keep them down for a minute to think about it and repeat if necessary. At a livestock auction I used to frequent there was an oldtimer who would do this for anyone who bought a rogue goat. No one was ever hurt, the goat just got up with a major attitude adjustment and decided it wasn't worth it to try it again. The goats seemed kind of embarrassed that they had been defeated so easily and would walk off meek as anything.
