R.I.P Sweet Petrie

My sweet little Petrie died today :Bawling: . It seemed like he had gotten over whatever was ailing him a couple of weeks ago. I really think the poor little guy just didn't stand a chance. He was 4 months old and couldn't have weighed more than 20lbs. He just didn't grow. He loved to eat, so I know he wasn't starving. He will surely be missed around here. My buck won't shut up now...I guess he's lonely.

Anyway...I know some of you would want to know. We buried him with our other beloved pets and put in a piece of a baby blanket that was my daughters. We lost most of her baby stuff in a fire last fall and found some pieces this past weekend when were uncovering the fire piles.

I'm not trying to be rude....but I just wanted some of you to know he died. I don't want to discuss what "could have been" or "what I would have done if it was me". He was very loved and I don't doubt for a second that we did all we could for him. He was born with something wrong and I'm so happy that we got to have him for the short amount of time that we did.

Oh Jill. :Bawling:

I'm so sorry. He was such a dear little goat and I'm so sad. He had a good life with you and I know you did everything you could and he was so lucky to have you.

RIP, little Petrie.

I am so so sorry for your loss :Bawling: I am very familiar with the hole you are feeling in your heart. He did have a short but wonderful life with your family and you were blessed to have him and he was blessed to have you...Thank you for letting us know...gosh he is just such a cutie...he will be missed.

So sorry for your loss.

Jyllie63 05/15/08 05:48 AM

:) Thank you everyone. It's hard to lose him, but I'm so thankful I didn't have to make the decision to put him down eventually. That would have been much harder on me.

Thanks again...we are doing okay today. My daughter is going to be so excited when she gets home from school. Yesterday I had to tell her that Petrie died and today I get to tell her that our saanen (1st FF) finally gave birth to twins! A boy and a girl. I asked her yesterday if she would want to name one of the new babies in honor of Petrie and she said no LOL. So it will probably be another Land Before Time Name. Our little nubian is named Little Foot. I think the new little girl will either be Sarah or Ducky. I'm not sure about another boys name. I think we're running out LOL.

You've got that right! It's amazing to see God's Hand at work sometimes.

Lots of us know how you feel, but it doesn't make it any easier. I am so truly sorry, I loved that picture of him and his name! But I guess when HE closes a door , HE opens a window so to speak. Congrats on the new and healthy babies.

Here's a couple of more pics that I just love. Of course the first one is of Petrie and his little pink legs and then another one of a new baby.

Im so sorry you lost him :( Yes God always has something in store for us when some thing bad happens. Just yesterday our only house cat got attacked by a fox or dog and lived! Well my purse is almost dead from the $180 vet charge now. That picture of him and his pink legs brought tears to my eyes. I remember as a child trying to save a little buckling my father was going to cull. God Bless. Patty. :)

Im so sorry you lost him.

HilltopDaisy 05/15/08 08:41 PM

I'm so sorry....

Aw, poor little guy. I'm so sorry you lost him, but it sounds like you tried your best for him.

That made me smile. When I went to buy a little Alpine doeling three years ago (really? three years? where does the time go?), she was Sara and two little Saanen bucklings were Ducky and Spike.

Not sure why you'd want to name a goat after a dinosaur, but then I'm not five years old!

goatkid 05/15/08 11:59 PM

Sorry you lost your little guy. I have a soft spot for disabled goatlings, too. Last year, we had a baby born with a parrot mouth. He must have had internal problems as well because he had periods when he was sickly. Then there were the wildfires west of us and the whole state was smoky. His poor little lungs just couldn't handle it and we lost him. I also have a little doeling who is almost a year old and blind in one eye, runs in circles when she's stressed and small for her age. I planned to put her in the freezer, but we haven't had the heart to do it. Your new babies are cute. Congratulations.

I just love the picture with the pink casts. He was sure a doll, and it looks like he new just how cure he was.

I do have to say that the two new babies are adorable. I hope you daughter feels a little better with the new addition.
