I just use a tight weave cloth. It catches pretty much everything. After each use I wash it and bleach it.

For stripping, I just strip into a little jar and give it to the dogs.

I get the milk filters - it's one of the few splurges I will actually get. They are fabulous. Coffee filters are WAAAAAY too slow and you'll grow old waiting for it to filter your milk. I never use a funnel with the filter. I just fold the round or square filters into a cone shape and pour the milk through. Eliminates washing up a funnel and works great. Then just throw the filter away!

I never thought about a mesh filter - perhaps it's not allowed due to it being metal? I think it's a great idea - especially for home use if it drains fast enough...

Cotton fabric works for me in a pinch, but for ME anyway, I eventually can smell milk on the fabric. I can't get it bleached/clean enough to suit me... But some folks like it just fine and it works well for them...

You know, I got me a stainless steel pail from our local hardware store. Paid like $15 for it, but it's a good heavy pail. Has lasted me for years.

I got my heavy SS 1 gallon pail from Target - like $13 or so...

And then got given a 2 gallon pail HEAVY SS later - but it doesn't fit under my Nubians!

Look around, just make sure it doesn't have any seams in the bottom. That collects milk and will be yukkie...

I just milk into a stainless steel bucket....bring it inside...and a friend gave me an aluminium funnel with a 1 inch opening, and my milk filters fit in it perfect.

Hamby Dairy Supply has all different sizes of filter.

I have some 6 in ones that I put in my canning funnel. What I found to be neat is there 12 inch ones that will fit over my bucket like the pic shows with the bungee cord. I like the idea of covering the bucket, but not using something that has to be washed.
