Could you share?

I live in the high desert of SW Utah. The state engineer is real bothered about the dropping ground water levels and threatening to take away our water rights. He doesn't want to do it in a reasonable fashion though - just kick the newer people out of the valley. Local officials have a better plan but he won't listen. We could handle some of your rain. Thanks. That even though I hate the mud for my goats or the cows that I milk part time.

aaccckkk. i'm not squeamish about mice in the least bit but somehow that really irks me. I can just imagine them viewing a wading human as "dry ground" and hear the jaws music at the same time.

Susie & Emily, Mark Martin on K-Kountry said they got 19 inches in Thayer. I had an empty five gallon bucket out and it was about three inches from being to the top of it this morning. It's snowing like crazy now. They had the snow plows out at Kosh said they were pushing 2" of snow off the highways down there. We have got water gaps down everywhere. Hope you all stay dry, and watch for stray cows while your out driving. I havn't seen it near this bad since 93 when it went over the bridge at Greer.

Just measuring the wather in a 5 gallon bucket (set out away from everything, so not to get run off... it measured 15inches of rain since monday night. If they had 10 in Thayer, then I guess my 15 wasn't far off LOL.. HWY E going into town yesterday was horrid, all the ponds that are within sight of the road had of course flooded. Over by the strawberry lady's house, (rain pouring so hard I could see.. was being really careful at the low spots, but we actually began to float along the FLAT area of the road.. scared us both pretty bad. FINALLY hit higher ground. I'm staying put today... At least ALL the goats are pretty dry. The two does due any day aren't looking like they will go anytime soon. It snowed HARD for an hour or so.. gone now.. I see little wet hens starting to come out looking for drowned worms LOL.. thanks for the heads-up on cows. We actually almost took out a angus heifer on A (before the rain started) came around a curve and there she stood. Right before the bridge. No clue what pasture she came from. She ran onto the bridge, I got her off that and up the side of the creek bank.. she then got into a big field..didn't see any other cows, but at least she was off the road. She was still there when I came back past. Have I mentioned how ready for spring we all are??? LOL..

We had to move animals around - Ralph, our pyr, is in the dry chicken coop; the 4 doelings are in a dry stall; momma with her 3 week old twins are in the other dry stall; the rest of the herd is in a higher pasture with a shelter. We had a river running through the loafing section of our barn. So glad to see blue sky and sunshine! I'm figuring we got 9 inches of rain - we're about 9 miles southwest of WP. It's going to be 68 on Friday! Hope none of these babies get sick now.

Emily,

I thought of you today when I heard of all the rain down there! We're praying for a quick "dry-out" for you and those animals.

We got our share of precipitation this year in the form of snow. But snow is pretty and fun to be in....the rain, well Noah was not really excited about it too much, either!

Keep your chin up! (pun not intended!) :baby04:

I sure hope the rain quits soon, especially for all of you down there in Missouri, I know the feeling too Emily- I feel like we are also going to need an ark or a small boat! We had a good 24 inches if snow when it started to warm up off & on the last week or so & have also been geeting rain here & there! I can hardly wait for it to dry up which will probly be in June!!! At least we are starting to see ground under all the white stuff! HAHA!

Well, it stopped raining here at about noon. The pond reached the road but did not go over. We actually had beautiful sun for a short time. We had a *lot* of rain, but no real damage was done. My heart goes out to those who lost family/friends in this deluge.
I don't know how much rain we got, but it overflowed the five gallon bucket sitting out in the open yard. I got some pictures of our "lake", but they are still on the camera.
Congrats on the "Noah's".
