you should try to go in to see if kids are mispresented. A kid with too large of a head that is difficult to move can cause very slow labor. If she isn't ready, you won't be able to investigate. But, her ligaments should not be completely gone for more than 12 hours. However, often the days before kidding, ligaments will 'soften' and become hard to find. If you can still find them, she's not yet in labor.

I've never had to use oxytosin either. I do have some on hand. However, do not simply use it. Always go in and make sure that the slow labor isn't because of mispresentation. If a kid is mispresented and you use oxytosin, my vet says they can rupture their uterus from straining to move the stuck kids

No action yet. I checked on her several times last night but she was resting comfortably. I keep feeling her ligaments. It has been two years since we had a goat birth here (we took a break for a bit so I could have a baby) and this is only our third birth. They are definitely very soft and loose. But I keep wondering "are they loose all the way?" They haven't seemed to get any looser. I'll go out and feel again. I may call her breeder later and talk to her. I thought maybe she was in labor this morning. When I went to check on her she was laying down and groaning, pressing her head to the wall several times. Then when I poured our the alfalfa pellets she hopped right up and started eating and seemed fine. Maybe I will try and examine her later (I'm a little nervous about hurting her). If she hasn't gone into labor yet will I hit like a "wall" (the closed cervix)?

Her name is Dove.

You will not be able to get your hand in more than halfway if she's not in labor. IMO if she is eating, acting comfortable, and chewing her cud she is not in labor. I don't like to "go fishing" unless necessary because of risk of infection. (I use chlorhexidine surgical scrub diluted with water for lube...helps a lot.) I would just watch her and call the breeder if you are unsure...she will probably know what to do.

I say, you will know what to do IF you need to. She is just baking in the sun. She does not at all look like she is in any stress, she looks very happy and content.

Yes, she is settled down today and acting her same little self. The weather is due to change, getting colder and rainy after a couple of weeks of sunny and dry so it will probably be soon! I know how they love to get you up in the cold and rain to help them deliver. I did talk to her breeder today and she gave me some good feedback. I'll post pictures when the little ones get here.
