That's great news. When you said she wasn't swallowing I thought it was over for her.

I have no clue why your vet didn't give you thiamine. From what I've seen of this disease, I agree with Liz, pounding them with B is key. You've got to be aggressive. Good for you for taking the initiative. I hope your goat continues to improve, but you've got to keep up the regimen.

Today she is up and walking around (very wobbly though) she also drank on her own, and her appetite keeps improving. I think she is going to be ok!! She has been on B1 and Pen every 6-8 hours, do I begin to back off the dosage or cut back the amount? I think she is sore some from all the injections she has been getting...poor girl. Better sore and alive though! Thank you guys so much for all your suggestions and support!! I really thought I was going to lose her...

moonspinner, When i asked my vet for the vit B, he told me that because she had a fever he new for a fact it wasn't a vitB defficiency. Then I asked if I could have some "just in case" i were to need it in the future and he said i won't need it and if i do i can go pick some up He also didn't give me any Dex, i had to go get that from a horse friend that had some...oh well, i usally only take a goat to the vet if i feel it is an absolute emergency...this has been two times, this time and one other time a couple years ago when i had a kid go downhill real fast. They couldn't save him, found out he had worms, then told me i need to use ivomec to worm them. Ha! I had wormed with ivomec...not only 2 days before bringing him in, but about 10 days before that. That is when i researched and found out ivomec doesn't really work here anymore. Vet didn't know that. So not really sure why i go there anyways...they really haven't helped me too much!

yes, please keep her on all meds. PenG and B- at least 24 hours after she is better completely better- I have seen them go into a total relaps stoping meds to soon.
I know sticking them sucks- I have been there. But I am so thrilled she is up- Hurray party time-
