Heh, and IF the doe you buy as a milker for your kids is healthy and doesn't have any accidents requiring expensive veterinary care (and if she keeps giving you the milk you thought she would!).

I agree with everyone else that said goat milk is best, whole cow milk is next best. I personally think whatever milk you can get should be raw from a very healthy dairy that is whole-herd disease-free rather than using pasteurized milk.

I feed store bought whole cows milk if I don't have goats milk. But that has not been a problem in the last couple of years. It is expensive but they do well on it. I do not use replacers ever.
