That's good that food is moving through her gut. Is she up to date on CD/T shots?

I believe calcium is important for muscle function which could explain why she can't stand or walk very long.

I don't know how effective it is in the short term but I've seen calcium tablets in the dollar store.

Alfalfa is supposed to be high in calcium if you have any available.

Can you give any form of alfalfa,Hay, cubes, pellets? It has calcium. I would also give her probios,or yogurt.for her ruman. If her ruman is messed up she wont eat .keep offering the baking soda.5 or 6 tums is for prevention. I believe shes gonna need more then that to get back in balance.

Good luck!

I think with an infection her temp would be high, not low. treatment with banamine will lower her temp further. I think it *could* hurt more than help.

Yes I would think so too. But that is exactly what happened to goats around here last year. Their temps went WAY down and they had watery diahrea. Basicly their rumens shut down. The banamine would help them to fell better and helped them get back to normal faster. Getting them to feel better is half the battle.

Just recomending what worked around here for us and what our vet recomends.

I've been wondering how an infection could lower the temp but it makes sense that by shutting down the bacteria in the rumen there would be no heat generated by those bacteria.
