Looks like we won't get any here for another week or so. Gonna need to prepare ourselves for a bad (high) feed year with ethanol stealing the corn and drought burning up the fields. Mahbe f we catch some rain and no hurricane I can make up the cost difference with a decent crop of pecans but I am not holding my breath.

You pecans must not have frozen like they did here .We lost all nut and peach crops to a late freeze.

Nope the trees had more blooms this year than the last several and are now full of tiny nuts.

Wow! Every fruit tree, grape vineyard, etc this year is either going to have a severely depleted crop or no crop at all due to the April freeze that chris30523 is talking about. It hit the alfalfa and barley crops in many areas too......so shortages and price jumps have been happening already.

Here in the NC foothills, it appears it might not ever rain again.
But, history seems to reveal that the more severe and prolonged a drought is, the more sudden and severe are the flooding rains that follow.

Spring is turning drier here, sooner, than in most years. Of course, that is all my fault. As soon as I seeded the pasture and lawn, it stoped raining regularly. Looking at forecast temps in the high 80's and low 90's for the coming week (although it's cloudy and cool today)
Last year was a short grass hay year here, no rain to get a second cutting. Looks like this year may be similar. Means I will be working extra hard in the next month to come up with enough hay to get through the year - don't want to get stuck paying premium prices or worse, unable to get the hay we need come winter. Anyone have any pallets and hay tarps they aren't using???

But seriously will it ever rain again? Pond has dropped two feet already, will be dip netting channel catfish soon....

The news round ere reported May for us was the 4th driest since they started recording rainfall. The area had about .91 inches for all of May. I'm happy they did. I've yet to see a drop. lol
They are calling for rain tonight and the weather man is sure everyone will get rain by the end of the day Sunday. We'll see Mr. partly cloudy partly sunny man.
Well time to head out and water the garden.

Hey Colorado, snowfall sounds good about right now!
Very dry here.
We do know how to make it rain, though. DH will have a couple days off the beginning of the week and plans to make hay. I'm predicting that's when we will get just enough rain...

Still no rain here in Monterey, TN...although the latest radar update looks promising...My fingers are crossed, the best that I can recall is two rains in the past 70 days. One can only hope....TJ

We must have everyone's rain here in SE KS, because we have been getting rain and more rain throughout most of the spring. Getting into the garden around here is a difficult thing to do because we only get a day or 2 of sun before it rains again. We live in Erie, which is just off the Neosho River, and we had so much rain it was out of the banks for a few days earlier this month. Getting yards mowed is a hit and miss thing. You have to make sure you are able to mow immediately without waiting for a day off because you may not be able to mow when you plan to. DD has only gotten to play one softball game with many practices cancelled and DS hasn't even been able to play a game yet with many practices cancelled also.
We will pray for you all to get some rain and maybe for ours to slow down a bit here.

People were starting to think it was gonna be dry here in central Wisconsin, but it rained, or at least sprinkled every day this whole last week, with humidity, and a HUGE population of ticks and mosquitos the size of planes this year. I think in the last week we got 4 inches in our general area. Today it's been raining all afternoon, with more on the way.
The alfalfa should have been cut by most people last week, but everyone's stuck waiting and it's getting really long. The first cutting of grass is gonna be super thick and tall too. There is gonna be a lot of first crop, but think the quality will be poor due to when it'll finally get cut.

Nothing here in Middle Tennessee. My portion of the Plateau has dodged rain over the past three days, and the extended forcast looks like a re-run movie, dry, dry, dry...
