I second everything everyone else has said. This is a great time to start making cheese and soap . I have a freind that does all of thee above and cans lots of milk to save on freezer space. She uses the canned milk to cook with during the "dry" months. I would strongly encourage the purchase of a couple feeder pigs ~ as the taste of milk fed pork is IMHO the very best of all.
Good luck with your projects.

I have made soap, cheese, and everything else. I still have lots of milk. I heard in Ohio you cannot sell it but you can give it away and people can "donate". Maybe picking up a feeder calf would be good and then sell it when it is weaned.

That sounds yummy! Would you care to share the recipe?

I'm milking 6 good milkers right now, and I wish I was drowning in milk. We always every year have a horrible milk shortage, I just have had goats since 95 and we've found so much to do with that milk there is Never enough.

Lemon Cheesecake

graham cracker crust (purchased or made)
8 oz goat milk cream cheese
1/4 cup sugar
8 oz Cool Whip or similar product
1/3 cup lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup raspberry jam mixed with 1 tbsp lemon juice

Beat together cream cheese and sugar until fluffy,( the goat cheese often looks a little grainy, it does not affect the taste) mix in cool whip until blended. Add lemon juice and vanilla, mix well. Spoon into pie crust and top with raspberry jam mixture. Freeze for 2 hours. This holds up really in the freezer for up to one month.
( I have never been able to keep any extras longer than that)

Does anyone dry/dehydrate it for powered milk? I would like to know how to do that.
