If she is pushing, and not having any luck, you need to go in. You should be able to go in past the cervix, and into the uterus and feel the babies. Go in when she is pushing, so you don't work against her. If her labor has stopped, or decreased, you will want to take action. My mentor said that if it had stopped, I only had a few hours to go in and help the babies. I waited that long, and the kids were born healthy.
If you have the long OB gloves, that is easier. Be sure to put lots of lubricant on. Also, if you do go in at all, you'll want to follow up with penicillin after she delivers.
Keep us posted, we're keeping a close eye on your post. We all wish you lived closer so we could help!

She seems to be doing ok now. A long string of goo is hanging 10 or 12 inches. Nothing else is coming out yet. She is eating and drinking, should I take the food away?
I called Connie and she is at work, but her mother gave me her cell # in case I need to call her. Connie's mother gave me a lot of info that makes me feel like everything is going along just as it should at this point.
I'm going back out with her. Today is raining, thunder & lightening so it's probably a typical day for kidding. LOL I will stay off the computer until the storm is over. Will give an update as soon as I have one & can turn the puter back on.

the pics look exactly like how one of my does looked last year when she started. She stretched and repositioned the babies and they came out fine.
Good luck!

I hope everything is okay too. I read the thread for the first time last night, but it really didn't look good to me. Really looked like the beginning of a serious prolapse. Hoping and praying your friend is right and she delivers fine. Please let us know.

Do goats have false labor?
She is eating, laying down, acting like nothing has happened. She doesn't act like she's in labor anymore. I'm keeping a real close eye on her (DD & DS are helping watch her), but right now she is having a normal day with nothing going on at all.

Good grief! This goat must have read the ten top things to do to mess with their humans minds .
I wonder if the prolapse occurred because the kid or one kid repositioned itself by shoving parts of Mom out of the way? Anyway, nature will have her way and she WILL give birth someday. Probably right after you check her .

Any news?? I'm kinda concerned, too. If she was far enough along to push, it's my guess that it wasn't false labor, but I am not that experienced. Anyone else with more experience care to opine?
Is she acting like she is still in labor? Pawing, up and down, arching her back? Does she have a fever or anything? Still eating?
I would at least call the vet and see waht they say. Maybe they can stop by for a quick check if they are on their way somewhere. Mine will sometimes do that.
Good luck. Keep us posted-- we're all watching this thread!

I have a doe like this. Acts like she is "dying" for 2 weeks before she gives birth AND she prolapses a little too here and there. She could very well not have been in labor at all. I am gonna go ahead and say she is a "drama queen" carrying a wide load. I vote triplets or quads. The odd thing is, when she WOULD go into labor, she is VERY quiet. Gives birth right under your nose and you usually dont notice till the kids start making noises. Doesnt make a peep then ?????

I had a first time doe who did this for a day or two before delivering. She delivered fine and hasn't had problems since- but she hasn't delivered a second time yet, due in june!
It looked exactly like the picture you showed, and came and went also. I remember it was like she was turning inside out! I went in to check also, but it was not necessary. She delivered when she was ready!
Birth fluids have some color to them, either red or "amber". My does usually have that thick white gunk for days or weeks before delivering. And if she was in distress, you'd have no doubt. A doe trying to deliver will "strain" very hard, hunching up. I think does do a lot of general grunting and groaning for weeks before delivery, it just drives ya nuts!
If you just keep an eye on her, I bet she'll be OK.
I bet after this is over you'll be an old pro at it!!

I'm gonna chime in and just say that this doesn't seem to be going normally AT ALL. AFter the first contraction I haven't had to wait more than an hour to be drying off all the kids, normally. Even a horse or cow vet should be able to help you in an emergency with delivering kids. If i were you, I'd go to www.fiascofarm.com and read up quick on birthing position and how to correct them. Sounds to me like she entered labor and wasn't able to move the kids, got tired, and stopped labor. I've had that happen twice so far. The kids probably NEED to be repositioned. Check her ligaments. If they've been gone for more than 12 hours, something is definetely wrong. I've had does not enter labor because the kid was too big and one doe that kidded two does, then stopped with a mispresented kid (and faked me into thinking she was done) to later deliver the mispresented kid dead... and another after that (totalling 4 kids, with a long pause in between)

I've had her out in the yard today where I can keep an eye on her and still get some things done. She's acting normal, eating, playing, drinking, and basking in the attention she's getting (she likes to be petted and hand fed).
Maybe chma4 is right, I have a drama queen. LOL

I think she's probably gonna be fine, as long as you keep an eye on her. You'll know if something is really wrong.
The goat I was talking about earlier had a protrusion the size of a soda can for several days before she delivered. I have had several have the poking out to some extent but they all deliver in a few days normally.

No kids yet. I moved her into the yard so I can watch her close and still get some work done. I spent so much time in the barn that I was starting to feel like I lived out there. LOL She's been browsing around the yard fences all day, taking a break and laying on the lanai for a while. She is acting a bit odd, but not like she's in labor. No contractions at all. All 3 of my adult children are visiting for the summer. Also 4 grandchildren here too. One of us is usually out in the yard most of the day so we all take turns watching her. The little ones (age 2 & 3) are real anxious for the babies to arrive. Every few minutes they ask if we have baby goats yet.
