Not far in, maybe 4 inches. Should I have tried to go more? I was afraid I'd hurt her or the kids if I messed around to much.

It has gone in on it's own and stayed in. I'll keep checking on her to see if it comes out again. It only comes out when she has a contraction.

It went in before I went in. It has been popping out when she has a contraction, then going back in. Each contraction pushes out a bit more than last time.

The contractions are mild. She is whimpering a little and looks at me with sad eyes that seem to be confused.

Ohk honestly I really dont think that is good, the more its coming out.

I am not sure what you should do. There is a chance she can kid safely but the fact that she's expelling more with each contraction scares me. Hmm Let me try to dig up some information for you.

I sent you a PM.

Please remember I am not experienced in prolapses in goats. Just trying to be as helpful as I can though.

It said what you describe, with pressure (her standing on the fence) the cervix protrudes, but goes back in easily. It sounded sort of common and resolves fine after birth. So after all that yada yada, sounds like you'll have kids soon.
I'm hoping Idahoe is right and everything will correct itself with kidding. I'm going out to stay with her as long as I can keep my eyes open. Will post sometime tomorrow on how things are going.

I hope everything 'comes out alright' too. Remember I don't have experience with this either, just reading it in a text book. I'm looking forward to tomorrow to your posts.

Ugh, I wish I had checked and posted before bed last night!! I hope I am not too late. Please, someone with more experience correct me if I am wrong, but I had two does do this same thing this spring. What happened with my does was that the baby was not positioned correctly in the uterus, and when it came time for her to to push, what came out was the uterus itself (or a small part of it) rather than the kid.

The only remedy is to go inside and reposition the kid and help her deliver. Go to Fias Co Farm's website for a REALLY GOOD explanation of kidding positions:

http://fiascofarm.com/galleries/Goat...ons/index.html

YOU CAN DO THIS!! This happened with my very first kidding (and my doe was a FF), and we helped her deliver two beautiful bouncing babies. Just be strong and determined, and you can do it.

Good luck. Please keep us posted. Those of us who have been there are checking your thread often and pulling for you and your girl. : )

I agree, if she is having contractions, you need to go in and check it out to be sure everything is alright. I was hoping for a good update thismorning....
Wish I was closer so I could help....

DD here, I hacked into Spinners name, will tell her when she wakes up. Penelopie seems to be doing ok, I checked her early this morning and she is walking around, nothing hanging out but no babies yet. Of course I don't know all the proper terms, I think I should have said kids, but that is the basics. I will call the vet this morning and let Spinner sleep in, she will most likely post later to let y'all know the latest news.

I'm back. I stayed with her until about 4 AM. The prolapse seems to have corrected itself. Nothing has come out again. She still seems to be in labor, and it seems to have moved to a medium labor now. She wants me with her, maybe because she was a bottle baby.

I will get back out there, and will come in and give updates as she progresses.

One quick question... how long does labor usually last? At what point do I decide it's been to long and make the decision to do something different? And what is it that I should do if I need to help her?

Do I need to do another exam (at some point, if she doesn't deliver soon?). I need to find out if the kid(s) is/are in the proper position, and if not, then do I turn it/them? Do I help it/them out in the wrong position? How do I know WHEN is the right time to help with delivery? I don't want to try to pull them to early and interrupt what might be a normal delivery. I am worried that I might end up hurting her instead of helping her.

I will do whatever is needed, I just need to know what it is that is needed.

if she is pushing hard and straining with nothing coming then go in and check to see if the kids are ok.

Nica my pygmy/nigi doe started labor around 9PM she started hard labor sometime in the night, I didnt have the time but anyways at 2AM I decided if she wasnt progressing I was going in and checking. With in 10minutes she started pushing really hard and straining and I could see she was making a bit progess. She delivered a girl, one leg and head forward, other one back. I had to pull the kid. Just remember if you have to pull, pull with the contractions. And when bringing the kid(s) out pull down dont pull straight or at an upper angel. Pull like they would come if the mother pushed them out and she was standing up. They would dive right into the ground.

Goodluck.
