Can you get another pic for me? Like I said she may kid fine and then again she might not. I have not had to deal with a prolapse before so I cant really give any advice on that.

Yep, a hoof is good, but *just* a hoof is not good. There should be two front hooves and a head. Now, if its a back hoof(turned toes down), you just need to be sure that both back hooves are there. Good luck!

here's the newest pic. She was laying down, she's showing a lot of the signs of labor, pawing the ground, vocalization, she got up and walked to me then back to her "nest" and layed down again. I hope this is labor, not a prolapse. She has pee'd and dropped a few goat berries.

It sounds like she's making little moaning sounds. Almost like she's asking for help.

I think it's going to be a long night. I'm going back out to set with her. I'll check back later and post if anything changes.

If anyone has any advice, please post it. I'll be back to read it later.

Thanks all.

Here's the latest pic. It don't look like normal to me. I know several of you have been thru a lot of kiddings, does it look right to you?

Good luck with her! I hope your doe kids safely with no problems. Keep a close eye on her. Sounds like she's in labor, not the really hard active (kidding) part but getting there slowly.

Just saw your last post. No that is not normal. A normal kidding would have a long string of goo and then a bubble coming, not what I'm seeing now.

She had the string of white goo for a day or two. It started out just a little, then was longer, probably about 5 inches long. It was clean white goo when she was moving around, then hay and grass stuck to it and it disappeared later.

Should I do what this page says about prolapses? http://www.tennesseemeatgoats.com/ar...prolapses.html I don' t have any of the antibacterial products such as Chlorhexidine, Nolvasan, or Betadine solution, but I could do the clean water and sugar part. I have medical gloves and have a strong stomach. I could do it if that's what needs done, but I want to be sure that's what she needs before I do it. I don't want to interfere and cause more problems than she already has.

Nope, not normal, definiately some sort of prolapse.. Can you gently work your clean finger inside and feel for a hoof??

Spinner, I'm not going to say you should or shouldnt do what the article says. I havent delt with this before. I guess if this was my doe I'd try everything I could. I have a couple goat friends to call on if this ever happened to one of my does. But what i'm seeing in the pics is not normal at all. If you got that back inside her the chance of her prolapsing again I would *think* (remember not for sure)would be pretty good chance. Just as Emily said, wash your hands really good and try to go in and feel around with a finger.

If you cant do it by yourself have some one hold her still while you check. When I went in on Nica she wasnt amused at all. She was having major difficulty and until she realized I was trying to help she didnt want no part of it. But if your doe is getting tired she may be more willing to stand still, or she may be like my other doe who stood there and let me go in to check.

Ok, that was NOT fun. She wasn't very happy or cooperative, but I did get an exam done. A thin string of white goo about 4 inches long. No other signs, nothing hanging out. Internal exam felt like an empty cavity above and nothing below except a hard ball about the size of a ping pong ball (or a little smaller). Nothing in the birth canal as far as I could reach.

I have a case of medical gloves so should I check her again if and when the "stuff" is hanging out?

She was laying down looking comfortable when I went out. She has plenty of energy and is not worn out tired. My other doe with twins was laying on the other side of the gate from her. They were laying face to face so maybe the older doe is comforting her?
