Thanks Filibuster. I am going to print this out. I think the kids and I would enjoy this. It shouldn't be too far from me. I am about 2 hours from Erie

I'm in Southern Ohio, about an hour east of Cincinnati. We recently sold off our herd of Boer and boer crosses. We're more interested in establishing some dairy goats and are thinking of Saanans. We've not completely made up our minds yet which breed for sure, but that's what we're leaning towards.
I only know of one saanan breeder in my area, and her goats are positive for CAE.

Have you seen the goats King Farm has? They have some really nice, show quality Saanens, but they are a bit pricey.

Edited to add this. I found you some Ohio Saanen breders.

I'm from northwest Ohio and live just east of Tiffin. At present I only have twenty one goats. A mixture of fullblood, percentage and grade boer does. Also have a few nubians. Am looking forward to breeding season as this year I have my own bucks now. Should have babys for sale next year. I only sold three this year (4-H projects) as I 'm trying to build my herd. Its nice to see a lot of people from Ohio are involved with goats. They are just the best animals!

I am in southern Ohio, in the northern part of Jackson County, practically in Vinton County. Have raised dairy goats for 29 years, I LOVE MILK, any milk, goats just happened to be more suitable for our property when we got dairy animals. I keep a registered Nubian buck but the does are mixed Toggenburg and Nubian. I keep goats for my own purposes, do not do much selling. Actually not much of a market for goats in my area, but that has picked up some the past few years. Herd size has ranged from 22 to 6. We find we are much happier with the fewer animals. Last winter, we had 4 does, the buck and a wether friend. Much easier to take care of than 22 goats! All I want is household milk for drinking, cooking, baking, yogurt, cheese, ice cream. Also, hay making is a lot of work! We have 12 acres in hay but do not cut all for our goats. Fence maintance is time consuming too, DH does that job! Can't imagine life without goats though, wonderful family members.

I'm in Hocking Co. between Logan and Lancaster. We have boer goats and alpines. Currently, we have 30 goats and I'm getting ready to reduce the herd to about 10.
