I think you Typed way to many 0000s in the post
have handled many a goat for people at the national level also know alot of people that show others goats and if that was the case we all would be showing goats not raising them. I have shown goats for well over 40 years so lets get real

This is sooooo sad!

I was just reading this, enjoying your story. Then, I read your post about Tiffany dying! I actually gasped! That is so sad! I'm sooooo sorry to hear about your loss. This is just heartbreaking, I'm sure.

I hope your babies are doing well!

Thanks everyone.
Sorry I havent updated on the babies sooner.
I've been pretty busy.
And upset.
I know it's "just a goat" and things could be worse, but still...
Not only was she the people-lovingest goat, but I needed the milk, and wanted to keep another daughter out of her, etc, etc. Lots of reasons to be sad, but as someone mentioned, at least I do have her daughter Velvet from last year!!!! And Velvet really does have that same wonderful personality.
The triplets are doing fine, but as they are half LM I wont be keeping them. They are taking their bottles well but still looking for mama. They sometimes go up to one of the does and start sniffing around - a slight memory of "there's milk in there!"
We are goat sitting 4 Nigerian babies as well, so I am bottle feeding 7.
Also goat sitting 2 Nigerian does that need to be milked - that's pretty interesting after milking all my full size girls! LOL
They are so tiny, I have to use a quart yogurt container to milk into - but they each can fill it up! I dont know if a quart each is a good amount but it seems so to me.

im so so sorry I felt so sad! Tobad you diddn't get another doe from her. I think all nubian breeders have a sweet doe. I find that the nubian is the most sweetest! I love them may-be thats why I base my live around them! (gotta love those floppy ears when they run!)

I agree with you that the Nubians are really sweet and I too LOVE those ears! I know a lot of people say their Nubians are LOUD but I only have one that is loud. She's really sweet too though. LOL

I was really surprised to see that Alpine like coloring too.
Man! What kind of gate? Tricky bugger, sounds like he'll produce smart kids anyway. They are adorable, congratulations.

As for a guessing game. I let my little herd pasture breed again this year and yet again my bucks bred everyone of them at different times! They all look like they are at least a month apart in due dates, although I am not sure about a couple of the first timers.

At least one of them is still open, which is OK with me, but why wouldn't he just cover everyone as they came into heat? Was he saving some for later?

I don't have a loud nubian at all! 3 does and not a sound. Just when they are waiting in line to be milked! (STUIPIED HAND MILKING! ) I know a few breeders who got out of nubians, because they said they will never shut up! I told them I have nver had a loud one; and they say im a lier! I look at it this way: :baby04: IF a doe has all she needs, then why would she be loud? Mine have the run of the land! and my money!!! :baby04:

yeah Honeybee, he was TOO smart! His kids are REALLY smart too - i have never had such a group of quick learners.
HazyDay, my one loud Nubian was not loud before she kidded. We call her an "anxious mother" because she is always calling her baby and worrying about where she is, who she is hanging out with, and what she is doing! LOL

Thanks White Eagle. I keep thinking of all the regrets and "what-if's"... I am short on milk now for one thing... but at least I have her daughter and if her daughter is bred to a NUBIAN it will be a miracle!!! I'll be so happy if those babies are NOT half LM.
