Oh, the sire of the kids is A Proverbial Caprine Calypso. Penny's registered name is Cooterneck-Farm Sweet Penny .
Ok....this is what *I* would do.
As this doe is a first-freshener and you don't know how she is going to turn out, *and* the sire was Calypso......I'd reccomend wethering him. Calypso threw lots of milk and beautiful, correct kids for me, but he only threw great udders on kids from does who already had great udders. He was not an udder *improver*. I only ever sold two bucklings intact out of him and they were exceptional out of exceptional mature does. I never sold bucklings sired by Calypso out of first-fresheners, no matter how nice, as I wanted to see how the doe matured out her second freshening before commiting to a herd sire out of her and Calypso. He was a nice buck....just had to match him with the *right* does. Very cute kid there.

Ok, I kept the babies up last night so she was able to fill her udder. She only had like a pint and a half this morning. I guess she would only have as much as the babies have been eating though.. and it wasn't a full 12 hours. That little buck has "milk neck" so he's getting plenty to eat anyway. I'm going to continue milking her in the morning (keeping the babies up at night) and so we shall see what she starts to produce. Anyhoo, here's her udder with something in it. By the way, she was wonderful to milk on the milk stand I built. Just stood there, and her teats have gotten bigger where I can use my hold hand to milk. You can see her teats are a little scabby, those babies use their teeth! I'm putting salve on them.

Did you ever decide whether to wether him or not? He is so cute but having dealt with my first buck recently I am ready to barbeque him!! He is a smelly pain in the butt. He has an attitude and his privates always seem "out" and ready to go.
If I do have any males from this breeding I am going to band them! I have mine as weeder eaters since I have acres of weeds and can't keep up.
So if you want him to be a weed eating pet then band him. If you want a stud then I suggest a sturdy fence with a good space that prevents him from reaching your females.

I say keep him a buck tell others you will sell him. I like her udder and he looks so cute. Around here we don't seem to have alot of all black bucks. Keep him a buck untill 2 months then get a shower to look at him. If he is a good buck sell him if not FIRE UP THE GRILL! I don't like the taste of goat meat but if you do FIRE IT UP! Her udder looks good but WHY do you have a rope on her collar? I Like him!

She had that collar and rope when I bought her, she was sorta wild and hard to catch. She doesn't have it now, she is much more tame.
