Small metal "barrette" tag? Sheep breeders I know use them on the babies, then when the lambs are bigger, put the more permanent tag in (some babies ears are too small/delicate for a full blown tag) two breeders I know order the brass tags, along with the plastic, numbered so that the metal tag is put on, and the same numbered permanent tag is then placed with the records until the baby is big enough. If a baby doesnt make it, for some reason, it's plastic tag is destroyed so that it is not accidently applied to another.
