I wish I'd seen this post as soon as it was typed. I bought one of those EZ Milkers, and I was disappointed. It has great suction, but the milk just didn't flow. It's much easier milking by hand. It's encouraging to read that some of you people like it. Maybe I'll try it again on other does. We only have one doe, a first-freshener Nubian. The milk barely dribbled out of her using the milker. Even tho I have carpal tunnel and arthritis, I'll just keep hand-milking. I may consider selling it at a discount but I must talk to my hubby first. Email me if interested at Raftercat5@aol.com. Don't PM me here, as I'm not albe to check my PMs often. Thanks.

Pulsators were engineered for commercial milkers to make and break vacuum because constant vacuum on the teat causes edema. Blood collecting in the teat. The swelling and irritation to the teat canal will most likely eventually cause mastitus. Personally, I'd stay away from it. From what I read on the site, this was engineered to pull clostrum from mares, notoriously difficult to milk to start with unless you're proficient. Not for constant use.

Just my 2 cents.

westwood,

thanks for the info!!!
the first time i used it i just knew something was not right. i just didnt know EXACTLY what it was.
i worked at a commercial goat dairy and we were always testing our vacuums. i knew better, but....
that's all i needed to hear. in the drawer it goes and i will only be using it for FF to get some colostrum.
thanks so much!

oh, and your 2 cents are worth about $200.

12 inches of vacuum and 70 pulsations a minute, optimum for goats. ;-)
