Bearfootfarm, Your comments were so mean!!! It really does not matter how old GoatFreak is, she is always courteous and compassionate. I am 49 and I just lost a goat today that died in my arms. I had no clue what it was and by the time the vet saw him, it was too late. Some of us are just beginning and some breeders don't always give the correct information to those just starting. How about some compassion for her feelings???? I am sure she feels bad enough, as I do, without you rubbing it in and being insulting. Geez...

Thanks pourfolkes. If you spent a day at my school I think that it'd be ruined all over again, the things that teenagers can get away with at school is horrible. Thank you once again. Bye.

So glad to hear the goat is doing better. I am a big fan of Vit B for many situations. In many places Safeguard is useless now and I'm even hearing of Ivermec's ineffectiveness too. Don't know if your area may be one of these.

I went out this morn to feed everyone and my little guy now is getting up on his own. Now showing signs of chewing his cude or whatever it is. So that is a great sign. Alone when I went out he came and greeted me at the gate. He loves his medicated feed I give them. Plus he got another round of Goat Power Punch with the other med in it.

I always worm my very young goats with safeguard and ivomec until later then they will later get Valbazen. I always keep all them wormers here..

Have a good day all.

Goat Freak my family is thinking of getting into goats in a couple months ( as soon as the perimeter fencing is upgraded ) but I noticed you mentioning college(s) and my daughter has gotten the follwoing advice ( she's just 14 ).

If your in Hudson in Pasco County, after you get your license you may want to try and get a job at Busch Gardens Animal Services.

My daughter want's to get into Zoo management and is looking at SantaFe Community College in Gainseville and they said that if you have working experience it is a big plus to admissions. A UF person mentioned the same thing about their Animal programs.

We are in the Orlando area so my daughter is looking at working at Sea World or Disney's Animal Kingdom, both of which have stated that people with farm / animal husbandry experience can usually get into the animal care side much easier.

Hope this helps with your college search.

Sorry all for deverting from the main theme of the thread, I just noticed Goat Freak mentioning colleges, and since I am also in FL., I thought it may help.

Bob D. in FL.

I've had goats that just failed to thrive. People are like that too. MAKE SURE you change your wormer. Don't keep using Ivomec. I used horse Quest last time (the active ingredient in cydectin). He could have had a weak artery, etc., etc. Could be anything.

Thank you everyone. I don't quite understand what you are talking about though BobDFL. Do you mean working as a zoo vet after college??? Sounds pretty good. Thank you. BYe.
