So I guess you should never trust a dog who's bringing you pototo chips, right?

Goat Freak, you better get over being squeamish about stuff like that if you're going to be a vet! In biology class, I used to psych myself before any yuchy procedure by telling myself that it was in the interest of science. I guess you could tell yourself that you'd be doing a good thing for the animal which of course, you care about. Good luck to you. I think you'll be a great vet someday!

I'm fine with cutting, and blood and stuff. As a matter of fact, when Frankie, one of our little boys, had to have the end of his ear cut off because of being bit by a dog there, I was the one to do it, no one else wanted to. It's the whole rotten smell, plus the thought of my poor babies stuff slowly rotting off, I can't do it, plus I'm afraid that Zeke would be mad at me.

Goat freak, It does not rot off.It dries up from lack of blood. No pain,No rotting and it won't make Zeke mad at you.

Goat Freak-

Some of your schooling to become a vet may involve some really bad smells. When I went to school for nursing, we had to use cats preserved in formaldehyde for dissection. That stuff smell REALLY bad. It's a smell that stays in your nose for a long time too.

Are you sure? When my dog was nutered, he was mad at me for a day, he wouldn't even look at me. Actually, he was castrated, so maybe it would be better to band Zeke, I just don't know if he'd fit the band, he's kind of big there. How far can the band stretch?

That is SO GROSS! I had to measure and weigh a dead frog for class today, it was SO SMELLY! I don't think that it was preserved though, it smelled horrible, and had a little bit of greenish fluid in the bag. I had to wash my hands three times afterwards, the smell got on my hands, and it was so nasty.

Yes i'm sure. I've banded many animal and not one of them smelled. You probably will not find it.Bands can stretch to the size of a medium rubber band.

Considering what they like to munch on around the place I wouldn't trust them to bring me anything!

IMO a goat who is going on nine months old is too old to be banded. I raise nigerians and wouldn't go beyond three months except in rare cases where they are still small enough. I cannot imagine a 9 month old buck fitting a band. Although I not familiar with the adjustable band. I think it would be tougher on an older buck even if he can be banded. Goat Freak, I promise you, I've wethered my share of bucks - there is no odor at any time during the process - unless of course a serious infection occured. The scrotum shrivels and falls off - that's it. Good luck with your boys. It's great you have a vet in the family!

Yeah, he gave us a half off discounts on two REALLY REALLY expensive operations for our dogs, my dog has hip displashia, and would have had to be put down if he didn't get the operation, and my brothers dog got hit by a car and would have lost her leg if it weren't for him. He also neutered our hogs for free, although we no longer have them, my dad gave them away.
