My mom said that goats can not have cattle minerals, would it hurt them?

The cattle minerals will be just fine for goats. Goats need the higher copper levels you find in cattle and horse minerals. It's sheep that can't have the cattle minerals.

If she has boer in her than I would give her a BOSE shot. Boers are known for having leg/muscle problems due to selenium def. so thats why you give BOSE shots. I had a boer doe who had three kids and all three had back leg problems so I gave them all BOSE shots and they where fine.

Make sure momma gets enough food. She should come into her milk. My does don't have big udders at first then they come into their milk. Also if need be try supplementing the baby with a bottle if you feel you need to.

Congrats on the little one!

No ,MotherClucker, they are not Boers, the boers have yet to have babies unfortuntly. She is a mutt goat, the mom the dad, the baby, the whol ancestry as far as we know, but with lots of pygmy and perhaps a bit of nubian. Thank you JenH. for clearing up that misunderstanding by the way, the goats have had cow mineral before but they were not suppossed to, they just love it so much.

Dear Goat Freaks Mom, "Goats can have cattle minerals" Mine all have constant access to loose minerals. They are all very healthy.

With the mom being so young, I'm sure that baby needs a shot of BoSe, being a smaller breed maybe just 1/4 cc of BoSe? I give My full sized babies 1/2 to 1 cc of BoSe.
If you Can't get to a vet, or have some of your own, Please at least give momma doe some loose cattle/horse minerals ASAP : )
Enjoy that Baby!

Thanks, I will make sure to tell my mom, you had me wondering if my mom had registered here, lol. The baby is now doing fine, running around a lot, although when she stands still she gets knda wobbly. She is also nursing well now, her mom stands still as long as she does not feel her baby is being threatend by the other doeling in with them, she will be getting moved today, we left her in because she does not mind hte baby. Oh yeah, I went out to check on them this morning and the baby was trying to fight the other doeling, Twilight her moms roomie during the pregnacy, snf Teilight ran away! Little baby sure has spunk. By the way I am thinking of renaming her Miracle, because it is a miracle that she is alive, I will tell everybody tonight and ask that it be changed, nobody really liked the name Ivy TOO much. Well talk to ya later, bye.
