Hello all! I'm so glad to be here. We bought a property about a year ago that used to be a farm and are trying to make some kind of organic hobby farm here for ourselves. We have 27 acres of rolling hills that are mostly dry with some wetlands and about 150' of swamp-shore on a beautiful lake. So far we have our 20 chickens, 2 dogs, and a cat, which we brought with us. We raised and butchered 60 meat birds and 3 turkeys last fall.
On Monday we'll be picking up 5 pigs, so right now we're getting all set for them - or so we think we are.

We have 8 turkeys and will be getting meat birds later in the summer. Hoping to get a couple of cows next year. My biggest challenge right now is feed. Trying to formulate something without GMO's in a small town has it's challenges

The biggest challenges we have here are predators. LOTS of wolves and some bears, among all of the tons of smaller creatures. Looking to put up lots of electric fencing and get a Great Pyr. to help keep everyone safe.
Other than that I'm a Mom of 5, ages 12, 10.5, 10, 8, and 1, and a full time online college student.
