Greetings, I Am Also From Planet Earth

Retired, plenty of time to type in useless information on a variety of forums. Long time poster on Beesource, Tractorbynet, Tomatoville and others. Ran across this forum while searching for something, I forget what it was but that is not surprising. My memory isn't what it used to be since I retired. Also, my memory isn't what it used to be since I retired.

Anyway, I'm on ten acres in the foothills between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. I've been around the block a time or two so it's very possible that if someone posts with a problem to solve or is seeking advice, I can be the one to lead you astray. I can tell you how I dealt with it and you will know what not to do. In fact, I've got a whole website dedicated to giving crappy advice if you ever find yourself with a beer in hand and no place to surf: www.goldfinch-acres.com

I really didn't join just to promote my stupid website. I just like typing stuff into little white blank spaces and then figuring out which emoticon to plaster at the end of my absurd statements.

Welcome, Earthling. Plenty more like yourself on here, and plenty of others (like my DH) who are from other planets, even other universes!

Thanks folks. It wasn't too green until a few weeks ago. Due to the drought, everything was dust brown. We are a little uneasy about the well holding up through it all although we've been through a number of droughts and everything is fine so far.

Hi there Earthling. Between all the rain and snow and ice we have had here since Novermber I would BE MORE than willing to ship you some. Our fields are looking good for rice growing this year, DH wants to "plant" some trout in the horse pasture. I told him I wasnt going out in that cold water to dig the little holes to plant them in!!!

It will interesting to see how they size up the potential for wildfires this year. If there is too much rain, it will be a bad fire season because of all the wild grasses growing so tall. If there isn't enough rain, it will be a bad fire season because everything is drier than usual. There is always a reason for the fire season to be especially dangerous in any given year. Many years, after these types of predictions, we have a slow fire season. It's like weather forecasting - hurricanes come to mind - they are usually pretty far from the mark.

Welcome to our little zoo! I am certain you will find the resident animals interesting and most are great story tellers to boot. Speaking of boots....don't forget to bring yours when you visit the zoo. Sometimes it gets deep and the fish get really large too. I look forward to gathering any wisdom that bubbles forth from your upper half. Blessings, Sis
