Zen alarm clock reviews?

Does anybody have one these clocks that wakes you up with chimes?

What do you think of it?

Sounds great, but can't justify the expense.

Don't do it!!

Last year in October for my birthday, since it was a landmark one, my SO wanted me to get something special and after much thought, I ordered one. It arrived promptly, but it is cheaply made.

First, there is a spring windup that operates the mallet that hits the chime. This is what will wake you up if you are sensitive to sound. Whirrrrrrrr, clunk then the chime. Also stamped "made in China" if that matters to anyone. I wouldn't have cared if it had been decent. Now, I know I am sensitive to sound when I can hear the CD load up before playing as an alarm (I quit doing that too). But it is not quite the meditative peaceful machine you would think from its ads.

I sent it right back and told them clearly that it was not as advertised. You hear the loud motorized whirrrr, clunk and mallet moving first before the chime (which isn't that resonant or dreamy). I got my money back, but was out the $10 shipping each way.
