Flea Spray Needed Badly

We have a Mother cat and two new kittens that we have taken care of since the birth of the kittens about 8 weeks ago The mother was a stray and she must have brought in a fresh new batch of hungry fleas. We kept them in a large cat "condo" to keep them from being bothered by our other five cats during their first weeks. Unfortunately the babies are badly infested and so is the condo. Does any one have any "recipes" for a home made flea spray? I priced some at Pet Supplies Plus today and it was about $15 for a small 12 oz. spray can. I just can not afford that and was hoping some of you might have a remedy. Thanks in advance.

Flea Control

Hi,

I would like to suggest garlic for the fleas. I take a capsule of kyloic (or other good quality brand), poke a hole in the top, grab our kitty and locate where the middle of her shoulder blades are. Squeeze all garlic onto her skin and massage in. Our kitty doesn't like that too much and she doesnt smell too nice afterwards. She usually runs around and tries to lick it off, but to no avail, its there to stay. We "treat" her 1x a week. Her coat is really soft and shiny and she is flea free.

Hope this helps!

Cool Bugs

What I'm about to suggest has to be protected from critters and children. Take a foil pie dish and mount a small night light about six inches over it with a shield over that. In the dish put lemon Soap or any dish Soap and water. If you could put this contraption in a CAGE so no critter or Child could get at it it would be safer, UNPLUG in the day time and store away. Children might get into into this sort of thing, but we have none of those. This method will get small to large BUGS of all sorts, at night. Then KEEP all critters out side of living areas, not less you like FLEAS, keep in mind MICE carry them around also.

If you have any lavender, rub them all over with it. Fleas hate lavender as much as they hate garlic.

fleas

About fleas in kittens, lavender or garlic are the best to use. If the kittens lick themselves or the mom does it won'y hurt them. What ever you do, DON'T use a commercial product on kittens, It could kill them.

go to the dollar store.. GD or FD...

flea powder is a buck a can.

go to a grocery store... you might have to pay nearly 4 bucks.

the fleas once dead on the cat are still around, if you kept that carrier in the house your house now has fleas.. in the carpets, apolstry ect.
they wont hop on you right away... see they eat on the cat and hop off to find a rug.

now you have to de flea the house and flea proof the rugs ect.

go back to the DG... get big cans of "roach proof"... it will say "100% boric acid powder" (use only this type) now dust everything, carpets, rugs apolstry ect.
leave it sit a day.. use a broom and get it DEP in the rugs n stuff.

then vacuum it off.. a lot will remain IN the deep part of the rugs... and keep killing flea larve for up to 2 yrs.

you have to break the life cycle of the flea, killing them on the animal is a cure that lasts as long as it takers the rug to hatch out new fleas.

dollar general... the po folks salvation.
I luv the DG...
