military call up

it looks like there has been another call up of reserves. a girl here at work left in tears as she just got word her husband was called up. she is afraid he is going to iraq. but if i have to guess, i'd say he's probably going to help out in new orleans.

has anyone else heard about this??

I heard they are calling up the LA reserves to be used in the relief efforts.
I hadn't heard about TN though but your idea about the call up makes sense to me.
I doubt if that will help her to be concerned until she knows for sure if he's staying in the States or going to Iraq.

I have three family members and friends who got a call up and are on a C-130 heading south the last I heard. MPs and a comm specialist.

Hope they kill some looters.

Just a reminder that "We still need a military force" here in the USA.

My guard unit I used to be in is headed for New Orleans today, they are based in Harrisonville, MO. I imagine they are driving the hummvees down, it is a MP unit and they will need the vehicles for patrolling once they get down there....we got back from Iraq in January 2004, god help the looters that cross these guys...rofl. 7 months in Baghdad doing patrol, so a bit of trouble with some looters will be a good time for these fellas.

They will probably have to have a mandatory class or two on "These are american citizens, remember they DO have some civil rights...unless they are looting"

I don't have a problem with folks taking what they need to survive, food, water, diapers, whatever. But those carting off the tv's and pcs, sheesh.

It is amazing what comes out when the law breaks down, we saw the same crap in Baghdad.....

Ohio National Guard troops have been called into service too. My daughter (a nurse) wants to go down too if the agency she works for will let her out of her contract.

i'm a nurse too. tell her that any company worth their salt will still pay her wages, while she is gone, without using her vacation time. mine will. if she's serious, she should look into that. there are currently other things in my life that keep me from going.
