Cost of Propane in your Area ???

..............After watching all the news coverage I called my local propane supplier expecting a price of atleast 2\gallon but was pleasantly surprised that it was selling for 1.71 for a minimum purchase of 150 gallons ...or...1.77 for < than 150 gallons . I ordered a 100 but I may increase that given how much fluctuation there is in the current pricing structure . These people always allow me to pay for my purchase over several months . I live 30 miles west of Ft.Worth , Tx . fordy..

We stuffed another 50 gallons in our two 500 gallon tanks this morning for $1.80. It would have been $2.00, but we have a friend that drives a propane truck, & he gave us a discount.

I filled up a month ago in central Illinois. $1.41/gal. Checked last week (before Katrina) and it was up $.10 already. Don't know what they want now!

Topped off the tank ten days ago, paid $1.88 gallon. shadowwalker. Just bought a 500 gallon tank, with 60 to 80 gallons in it for $250.00 at a auction. Just got to get it moved to the house now. No more renting one. shadowwalker

Ah!! Liquid Platinum.

We use about 160 gallons every winter as backup to our wood stoves. Our 200 gallon tank is still on 45%, but I am dreading making the call to top it off.

Here in central Iowa I just today paid $1.37/gal to fill my tank (running on empty so I probably need 375-400 gallons!) and pre-paid 400 gallons (that was the minimum) at $1.29 (only had to put half down). Hopefully that will get us through 'til next spring since we burn about 300 bushels of corn every year for our main heat (it's amazing how much propane we go through though).

I was quoted 1.51 per gallon for pre-paid two weeks ago, but that was before the storm. We're in northwest Georgia.

I just made a post like this yesterday in the countryside families forum asking the same question. I called our co. yesterday and right now the price is $1.55 per gallon. It is raising to $1.79 next week. We can prepay any amount we want until tomorrow for $1.65 a gallon.

One of my local providers was offering a pre-buy of 1000 gallons at $1.45/gallon. The price is good until 3/31/06. If I don't use it all (which I won't) the cash balance is available to purchase propane at the current price.

I called around yesterday for prices. From $1.79 to $1.19
The $ 1.19 company will then give me a $ 1.39 cap through March 06.
I own my 500 gal tank so I can shop around for the best price.

Most propane suppliers have long ago bought the supply that they are using right now.
The company above will run out of their PRE bought fuel in March. Then........the price will be anybodys guess.

If your propane supplier is bouncing his price around to follow the gasoline prices, then the chances are real good that YOU are being gouged.
( I'm refering to the bigger tanks....not the 10-20-or 100 lb tanks )

We're southeast of San Antonio and last week we paid $1.70 a gallon. It went up to $1.75 the day after we filled up.

We prebought for the season, and the company made a mistake when they quoted the price. They honored their end of the agreement when we returned the contract, however, and we are getting it for $1.12/gallon!

I'll sign up for a couple of years at that price...
