News from my local gas station

Pulled into to fill up as prices are rising down here in GA and the local gas station which is part of a chain said that when the gas they had in their tank was gone, they didn't know when they would receive any more. The lady told me that this morning they were almost out of gas and luckily a tanker was in the area and after filling up two stores that were completely out, gave them what was left in the truck. She said all their gas comes from Biloxi, MS so I should try to find another station that doesn't get their gas from there as when it's gone, it may be some time before they can get refills.

Gas here now at 2.72 (up from 2.46) in West GA.

Thankfully I have already filled my two 5 gallon gas cans and the truck is on full, and now the car. She said to expect gas to be 3.00 before week's end.

Better fill up now before the increase and find out if your local stations get their gas from the same area. Not trying to be alarmist as I know there are several chains that get gas from other areas, but in the South it seems that most gas comes from Biloxi according to the station manager..

I don't know much about gas and which stations get their gas from where and am sure someone else here knows more about that than I do. I know the station was full of cars though getting gas and it's a larger type station with 12 pumps and every pump was filled.

Stay safe,

The stations around here seemed all very crowded yesterday. I filled both vehicles. Just in time, since gas has gone up probably an average of 5 cents today. Probably higher tomorrow still.

I am about empty on my bulk tank. Called the fuel supplier today, 320 gal of gasoline, can top off the diesel barrel as well - 170 gal or so there. I'm a small-time farmer, small tanks.

Farming is going to be fun. Anyone want to pay more for their box of Wheaties?

I didn't think so..... Sigh.

Just watching information on the hurricane on the weather channel and the amount of devestation is amazing! once we realized how bad the coastal situation was we went down this morning and filled both vehicles and all 11 of our 5 gal gas cans. put the gas in our 55 gal drum and will go down tomorrow and refil the cans. even with solar in the winter we must run the gas generator an hour or two daily to have power...a frightening time indeed.

We are rural route mail carriers and have to drive over 125 miles a day. Tonight we were on the way back to FIL's house to check up on him and saw this gas station full up with cars. There were even cars out in the street lined up waiting to go in to fill up. Turned out he was the lowest priced gas station in the area, hadn't gone up on his prices as yet. We paid 2.69 a gallon! After he closed up tonight his gas was going up .18 a gallon so tomorrow he will be the same as everyone else around here. Sad isn't it? I think that greed is mostly the push behind the gas prices going up so much.

Don't buy middle eastern gas. I dont know if this is true or not but I got this e-mail today from my cousin it says: shell, cheveron/texaco, exxon/mobil, marathon/speedway, and amaco import a total of 658,000,000 barrels of oil from the middle east. While citgo, sunoco, conoco, sinclair, bp/phillips, hess, and arco buy 0 barrels of oil from the ragheads, I mean the middle east. So let's all buy from the 7 that dont get it from them. It didnt say where they get it from though.

Excuse me, but I think that's bogus. Hubby used to work in the international division of Conoco, and they operate oil fields all over the world. We lived in Indonesia for 4 1/2 months while he worked in the South China Sea. That's a moslem country. Are you prejudiced against geography or religion?

I checked this out on truthorfiction.com and it said that (whenever it was that they checked) BP, Citgo, and Sunoco bought none from the middle east.

You can always check things like this out by checking the truthorfiction site and doing a search with a keyword or two.

Another place to check out email "information" is Snopes.com.

As for the gas prices, premium is $3.19 here, the rest priced at the usual 10 cent increments.

There was a report in the Trib the other day that Chicago has the highest gas prices. The governor has called for an investigation. Which means, "Oh, my, I'd better say something, but I don't want to make waves, so I'll dump it on the attorney general's office..."

I don't like the Gov of IL. He makes the Mel Brooks character in Blazing Saddles look competent.

I do believe I've seen this proven false at snopes.

We filled up all of our vehicles Monday night. Our neighbor had talked to a gas station attendant in town who stated their price was going up to $3.60 the next day. We filled up at $2.67 up .08 from Sunday's price. Gas is very high in Illinois, but I was under the impression it was from regional additive requirements to reduce air pollution. IL Governor also has plans to build the second largest clean coal-fired power plant in southern IL, and plans to construct the countries largest wind-farm. I'm not throwing daggers at ya Pony, just had to mention some of the good things he's been up to. Oh, I almost forgot. He also has offered a rebate of 50% to upgrade a gas station to service the 400,000 vehicles on IL roads that can run on E85, including adding new stations that want to sell E85, or (don't quote me on this one) produce and distribute it as well. E85 has no gasoline tax on it until 2012. We have a vehicle that can run on it, and didn't even know it until this year. Unfortunately the nearest gas station that sells this fuel is 30 miles away (1 hour 15 minutes driving time).

I got gas this morning-- still at $2.509 here in Central Virginia, but steadily rising. After seeing the gas prices of others, I think I will stop on my way home from work and finish filling up!!!

I'd start worrying more about the availibity of gas, and less about the price . If things pan out worse then expected in the refineries along the gulf coast, watch out, cause they pump a lot of crude north and refine a lot of crude into gas. Google the refinery in Pascagoula, MS. THe more time this big dog is out, the more OUCH at the pump. Don't even look @ Natural Gas prices

I see Bush is considering telling Americans to conserve. Thats reassuring.

Central Alabama here. Yesterday morning the small local gas station/convenience store was charging $2.49 for regular. Yesterday afternoon, when I filled my car, it was 2.59. An hour later it was 2.69. This morning it was $2.99. The owner said that, until further notice, there would not be any more gas brought into the state so when pumps were dry, they would stay dry. He didn't have any idea when that "further notice" would be--he's hoping it will be soon.
