Homesteading Workshop in Indiana????

Is anyone aware of any workshops in the near future in Indiana taking place on:

food preservation
beekeeping
goat raising
butchering

I'd be interested in learning from the best if the best is around...(best meaning someone who knows what they are doing with very limited resources to do it with....)

Anybody else have any class ideas or willing to teach a day course??

Bloomington (near where I live) has a weekend "Simply Living" fair yearly. I don't know when this years is, I havn't seen it advertised. Besides all the booths on natural/simply you'll get a lot of liberal anit-war/anti-Bush etc. stuff. As far as workshops there have been straw-bale construction and other hands on type projects/trainings.
Bloomington also had a very good goat seminar at the Farm Co-op last year, I learned alot, especially on worming.

Goat raising: I've learned most of it from reading and hands on.
Butchering; I've butchered out 3 pigs, many goatlings, inumeral rabbits and ducks but only a few chickens (I hate plucking).
I want to try beekeeping next spring.

Anyways, if you can't find a workshop you can learn this stuff on your own, I know I have.

As for beekeeping, check out
http://www.indianabeekeepingschool.com/

I went to the class last January and it was very informative. I'd suggest doing a lot of reading beforehand - there's a lot of info presented in the class and your head will be spinning!

Also, you may want to become involved with the IN State Beekeepers Assn

Southern Indiana not being too many miles away I thought I'd invite you to our 3rd Annual Buffalo River Fall Get together the weekend of September 16-18th at Tyler Bend campgrounds. (see thread "Would you like to meet in person?")

We don't have many demos set-up yet - but if you would like to spend a weekendin with folks to actually do those things you're more then welcome to come, sit awhile, and talk and ask as many questions as you wish. The price is certainly reasonable. ($3/night if you use a tent in group camping.)
